“The Harlow family and Marcus made a deal. They took 100 million dollars from him to marry me off- someone who has no connection to the Harlows at all. This is human trafficking,” Stella said.
“That’s a lic!” Marcus shouted.
He turned bright red with anger.
Stella spoke calmly, “I have proof.”
Her words left them tongue–tied.
“As for why I hit them—”
Stella smiled, “It was self–defense. Maybe I went a little overboard. But let’s be real–when a group of people is ganging up on you, you don’t have time to worry if you’re holding back. You just fight to survive.”
“Y–you’re lying!” Derek stammered.
Drool dripped from Derek’s mouth as he spoke. He quickly wiped it away, hanging his head in embarrassment.
‘Here’s the evidence,” Stella said.
She handed over a recording device.
You’re my daughter! It’s only right for a father to take a wedding gift when marrying off his daughter,” Derek tried to argue.
Stella’s eyes held a smile. It looked soft, but it cut like a knife–deadly with every glance.
Speaking of that–you never registered my birth. Even my mother was an unregistered resident. So I uspect Derek trafficked women back then. I ask you to investigate this thoroughly,” Stella said, sending a ext message as she spoke.
ace was under immense pressure. His phone hadn’t stopped ringing. Normally, big shots like these wouldn’t even give him the time of day.
But today, all of them had reached out for Stella. He had no choice but to investigate this case properly.
Miss Shaw, rest assured. We will look into this thoroughly,” Jace promised.
Stella narrowed her eyes.
With their investigation, every dark secret from Derek’s past would be brought to light.
She would also be able to find his hometown quickly.

“Mr. Cross! Mr. Cross, I found her!” Gideon exclaimed, over the moon with excitement. “That car! It’s parked right outside Azure Peak Police Station!”
“Drive,” Elias said without hesitation.
Gideon hurried to start the car, speeding toward the police station.
Inside the station, Derek and Marcus were already in shock.
They never thought their plan would fail so badly.
And now they’d dragged themselves into trouble too.
Stella glanced at them coldly. “My mother was beaten and sexually assaulted to death. I found out that this case was closed hastily without even going to trial. As her family member, I have the right to know the cause of her death back then. So I want to check the files from the closed case.”
Hearing this, Derek turned deathly pale. Fear froze him, and he couldn’t say a word.
“Miss Shaw, we have recorded your request and opened a case for investigation,” an officer replied.
“Thank you,” Stella said.
Stella walked out of the police station with her head held high, escorted personally by Jace. Everyone stared in disbelief.
Wasn’t she just some naive nun who’d never seen the world? Why did she seem to have such powerful connections?
Derek’s heart raced with panic.
He was desperate, so much so that he forgot the pain all over his body.
His mind went blank as he was taken into custody.
As for Marcus, he’d already passed out from the pain and been taken to the hospital.
When Elias arrived, Jace felt his head throbbing,
He’d just sent off one troublemaker–how did another one show up?
“Mr. Cross,” Jace greeted nervously.
Elias looked around, but he didn’t see the familiar figure he’d been longing for. Disappointment clouded
his handsome face.
Gideon stepped forward quickly, explaining their purpose to Jace. When Jace heard they were looking for Stella, he sighed.
“Miss Shaw just left.”
Elias didn’t leave in a hurry.

With his connections, it was easy to get access to the station’s surveillance footage.
When he saw that familiar figure on the screen, the long–standing gloom on Elias‘ face finally lifted into a rare smile.
Stella Shaw.So that’s her name.
“Mr. Cross?” Jace called, watching him leave, confused.
“Make sure these lowlifes are dealt with according to the law,” Elias ordered.
Elias had come in a hurry and left just as quickly.
Jace wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. His mood today. was like a roller coaster ride.
He clutched his chest.
That young lady is under Mr. Cross‘ protection.
I’ve come so close to making a terrible mistake.
These people–they are nothing but trouble.
Thanks to Elias‘ order, Stella found out where Derek was from that same night.
White Pit Village.
It was a remote place with no easy access to transportation. One might not even get out after climbing everal mountains.
t looked like she’d have to make the trip there. It was Derek’s hometown. Maybe she could find clues bout her mother there.
