Unwilling to accept defeat, he pulled out his phone and dialed Simon. They’d been rivals for years, but they still had each other’s numbers.

“She cares. A lot. She’d never consider a man who isn’t a blank slate–especially not one who’ll take anyone, who has no standards. She can’t even stand breathing the same air as that kind of guy. She hates them from the bottom of her heart.”

“Let’s get in the car first. We were going to find Miss Shaw, remember?”

At the mention of Stella, Nolan finally climbed into the car. His assistant coaxed him into changing into dry clothes and redressing his wounds.
