“Mr. Jagger.” Wayne looked completely stunned.
“Which family is she from?”

“The Reyes family. The heiress of Reyes Group.”
“I don’t want to see the Reyes family in Azure Peak City ever again.”
Natalie Reyes went weak in the knees and collapsed to the ground. “Mr. Jagger, I’m sorry! I only answered the phone. I didn’t say anything!”
“If the Reyes family can’t teach their daughter, they can lose their business and learn at home. As for you, Wayne, get out to Adrar.”
“Mr. Jagger!”
“Get lost.”
Wayne was unwilling, but he knew he had broken Kieran’s most important rule.
“I’ll send another assistant right away, sir.”
As soon as Wayne left, Kieran called Chloe. The phone rang and rang, but no one answered.
Kieran was filled with frustration and rising panic.
He tried to message her on Instagram, but it wouldn’t send–just a spinning blue icon and “Failed to send” below.
He changed quickly and walked out while calling Wayne.
“Find out exactly what that woman said on the phone.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Locate Chloe Cross right now.”
“Yes, sir.”
Kieran sped off, skipping the important business dinner entirely.
Chloe, don’t leave me.
His mind was in chaos.

He had never been so scared in his life, no matter what he faced.
This time, he was truly terrified of losing her.
The phone rang.
“Where is she?” He answered instantly.
“Ms. Cross drove west after work. We haven’t located her car yet.”
“And Natalie only said you were in the shower. Then Ms. Cross hung up.”
Kieran immediately knew where she was.
She was at the villa–the one they had been to.
He slammed on the gas and raced toward her villa.
She called me on her own for the first time.
Is she angry?
Because she likes me a little? Or because she thinks I broke our rules?
His fear grew stronger by the second.
He arrived outside and called again.
No answer. The doorbell went unanswered.
But the villa lights were on. He knew she was inside.
He had noticed when she brought him here–no servants lived here, only her.
“Chloe, open the door!”
“Chloe Cross, let me explain!”
He shouted downstairs. Chloe stepped out of the bathroom, saw the monitor, and watched his anxious face.
She smiled faintly and walked downstairs slowly.
She poured a glass of red wine and swirled it gently.
Standing by the third–floor window, she watched him through the glass.

“Chloe!” Kieran’s panicked face lit up with hope.
“Chloe, open the door! Let me explain!”
He called over and over. Chloe drank slowly.
She finally put down the glass and answered.
“Chloe, you finally answered!”
“Get to the point.”
Her voice was cold. Kieran hurried to speak.
“Tonight was a misunderstanding.”
“You said you stay away from everyone but me. You’re good at lying, Mr. Jagger.”
“It wasn’t like that! It was a misunderstanding!”
“I don’t care if it’s a misunderstanding. If you can’t handle women around you while we’re together… you don’t deserve to be my lover.”
“Chloe…”
“Don’t call again, or I’ll block your number too.”
Chloe hung up and closed the curtains.
“Chloe, listen to me!” Kieran’s heart sank.
He leaned against his Rolls–Royce, staring up at the spot where she had stood.
Thunder crashed.
Chloe flinched. She went back to the window and looked down at him.
Kieran Jagger, what are you really doing?
She couldn’t understand him anymore.
