Kieran patted her hand gently. “You rushed over without eating, right?”

“Kieran, when can you leave the hospital?”

Chloe frowned.

“I’ll stay with you tonight.”

“I booked a hotel for you. Go rest there.”

Chloe pushed him slightly. “I’ll rest at the hotel for a while, then come back. Tomorrow we’ll have breakfast together. I’ll see Mom and Dad, then head back.”

“The bed here isn’t comfortable.”

Chloe went back to the hotel, finished some work, and washed up. It was late by then.

She didn’t disturb her parents and returned to the hospital.

Kieran’s VIP suite was as nice as a hotel.

“I’ll sleep on the sofa. Call me if you need anything.”

Kieran looked at the made–up bed, then at the sofa.

The sofa was too uncomfortable, especially for someone five feet seven inches tall.

“Chloe, you take the bed. I’ll take the sofa.”

“Patients don’t sleep on sofas.”

“Please. The bed is better.”

He lifted her in his arms and placed her gently on the bed.

He kissed her forehead. “Sleep.”

As he turned, Chloe grabbed his hand. “Stay with me.”

“No.”

“The bed’s big enough for both of us.”

She pulled hard, and he lay down beside her.

She curled up in his arms and yawned. “Let’s sleep.”

Kieran watched her sleeping face and smiled happily.

“Goodnight, baby.”

Chloe licked her lips sleepily. “Goodnight.”

Kieran turned off the light. Moonlight fell on her fair face. He stared for a long time, his heart soft and full.

They slept peacefully through the night.

The next morning, Chloe rolled over and buried herself in his arms.

Kieran touched her hair fondly and kissed her forehead.
