Chloe wore a fluffy cat–ear headband and a face mask. She held his cheeks, her voice soft and sweet like a nightingale, full of charm.

That voice… Chloe peeked out from behind him and met Elias‘ angry gaze.

She pressed her lips together and waved awkwardly. “Dad, what a coincidence. You’re here to visit too?”

She grew nervous under his cold stare. Her father had rarely been this strict with her.

She looked to Stella for help, hurried over, and linked her arm. “Mom.”

Elias stared at her. “When did you arrive?”

“Last night.”

“You stayed here?”

“Mr. Cross-”

Elias shot him a sharp, cold look. “I’m talking to my daughter. You can speak later.”

Chloe took a deep breath, peeled off her face mask, and patted her face lightly.

She stepped beside Kieran and spoke clearly, “Dad, Mom. This is my boyfriend, Kieran.”

Elias glanced between them. “I thought you were just friends.”

“Mr. Cross, I hadn’t asked Chloe properly yet, so I didn’t say. We’re officially dating.”

Kieran stepped forward, subtly shielding Chloe behind him.

“I came to see him last night. You know how it is–when people visit the hospital, they usually end up taking the bed.”

She scratched her head and smiled sheepishly.

Stella touched Elias‘ arm quietly. “Elias, they’re just dating. Don’t be so hard on her.”

“Dad, am I not allowed to date?”

Elias had no reply.

“Mr. Cross, Mrs. Cross, I’m serious about Chloe.”

Chloe pretended to glare at him. “Kieran, you’re so messy. You didn’t even make the bed.”

“You were sleeping there. You should clean it.” Stella patted her head and reached to fix the bed.

“Mrs. Cross, I’ll do it.” Kieran quickly tidied the bed.

Chloe grabbed his wrist, turned away, and whispered to Elias, “Dad, what’s wrong? You act like I did something terrible. When you dated Mom, if she was in the hospital, wouldn’t you stay? Would you just leave her there alone?”

Elias fell silent.

“Would you abandon Mom at the hospital and go home to sleep?”

Elias said nothing.

Stella covered her mouth and laughed.

“Spare me some dignity. I’m the CEO of Cross Group. Scold me later, okay?”

“Elias, don’t be upset with her.”

“Dad, smile. Relax!” Chloe poked his cheeks gently.

Elias wanted to scold her, but he couldn’t bring himself to.

She was right. This was not the place to lose his temper. He had to keep her dignity.

“Mr. Cross, Mrs. Cross, have some coffee.”

“How are you feeling today?” Stella asked gently.

“I’m fine.”

Just then, Callum returned with breakfast.

“We already ate. You two eat.”

“I’m starving. I was going to visit you after breakfast, but you came anyway.”

Stella smiled warmly. “You eat first. Your dad and I will check on Kieran’s condition.”

They nodded obediently, nothing like the powerful figures they were in Azure Peak.

As soon as they left, Kieran and Chloe breathed a sigh of relief.

“My parents are being nice to you. They even made you soup.”

Kieran smiled. “What do you think they think of me?”

“Not bad. Keep working hard.”

“Got it.”

“Try the soup. Mom’s is amazing and really nourishing.”

They ate breakfast happily.
