She grinned. “Kieran is the lovesick one.”

Stella patted her head, full of affection.

Callum closed the laptop and stood up. “Mr. Jagger, I’ll be right outside. Call me if you need anything.”

“Prepare gifts for Chloe’s parents. Proper ones.”

Callum stared in surprise, nervous.

Do well, and I’ll get promoted.

Do badly, and I’ll probably be sent to Adrar with Wayne.

“Sir, do you know what Mr. and Mrs. Cross like?”

Kieran shook his head.

“Should you ask Ms. Cross? It’ll affect how they see you.”

Callum’s heart was in his throat, terrified Kieran would snap at him.

Kieran paused for a moment. “Prepare some first. I’ll ask Chloe and add more later.”

“Yes, sir.”

After Callum left, Kieran checked the time. He guessed Chloe had already reached Azure Peak.

He called her.

“Miss me already?”

The sound of her voice immediately eased his tiredness.

“Yeah. I miss you.”

“Don’t miss me too much. I’m not responsible if you faint.”

Kieran laughed happily.

She always made him feel light and peaceful.

“When you get back, if I find out you didn’t rest properly, I’ll punish you.”

Kieran walked out of the airport. He looked around, and a faint disappointment crossed his face when he didn’t see Chloe.

She promised a surprise… wasn’t she coming to pick me up?

He walked faster, eager to see her.

Kieran froze. Light flashed in his deep eyes, and a smile slowly spread across his lips.
