Chapter 389 College Started
Nicole poured Jaron a cup of coffee. “My childhood friend”
Jasper looked at Amelia gently. “My childhood friend.”
They smiled at each other.
Then they turned to Jaron and Amelia together. “When will you two get together?”
“Wait, you should say–when do we get dates? You two being all lovey-dovey makes things awkward for Amelia and me. I don’t mind, though. I’m thick-skinned.”
Amelia’s smile faded. A faint ache settled in her chest.
She took a breath and smiled brightly. “I’m thick-skinned too. Awkward? What’s that?”
“Respect.” Jaron handed her favorite drink.
Nicole patted Amelia’s hand softly.
Jaron gave her the menu. “I ordered what you and Jasper like. Want more?”
“I’m good. Show Jas.”
Jasper glanced down and added Nicole’s favorite dessert.
Nicole ate happily. “Having a private chef is the best.”
Jasper watched her fondly and held out a napkin. Nicole took it quickly.
“Jaron, you full?”
He blinked at her and nodded.
“Aren’t you supposed to be the hype man? Let’s go.”
“Right, let’s go!”
Jaron and Amelia joined the band. He played guitar; she played drums.
They smiled at each other. Amelia looked down at the couple. “Jasper, treat Nicole well. My fist won’t hold back just because I can’t beat you.”
Jasper raised his glass elegantly. “You’ll never have to throw it.”
“Nicole, Jasper’s waited so long. Give him the sweet love he deserves.”
Nicole smiled softly. “My man gets nothing but sweetness, forever.”
She looked cute and soft, but spoke with fierce confidence.
Jaron smiled. “Cheers to my best friends”
The music started. The strong beat made everyone move.
Soon, Jasper lifted Nicole onto his shoulders and carried her onto the stage.
He played guitar; she sang an upbeat friendship song.
The four of them were perfect together. The whole place lit up.
Youth, freedom, passion, and no limits.
In the end, they raised their fruit wine and laughed. “Cheers to youth. To us.”
Their eyes shone bright, full of hope for the future.
scent grew stronger.
1-I can take you to the clinic!” By the time he reacted, she was gone.
“Why did you stutter?” Amelia frowned. A sour feeling rose in her chest.
“She was like an angel Jaron stared at her fading figure.
He smiled softly. “How can someone be that beautiful?”
“Falling for her already?”
“I’m not that shallow, am I?”
Amelia relaxed a little.
Nicole watched Amelia worriedly. Amelia smiled back at her.
“Hey, which major are you in? Let me help with your bags.”
A stranger’s voice broke the quiet tension.
Nicole blinked confusedly. “Are you talking to me?”
“Yeah. Let me take your luggage.”
Jasper stepped forward and held her suitcase firmly. “Thanks, but her boyfriend’s got it.”
The boy scratched his head awkwardly and left.
“Anyone else smell jealousy?” Jaron teased with a grin.
