Chapter 93 Defending Her Mother’s Honor
“Stella, who the hell do you think you are? Trying to scam the Moores? What gives you the right so demand a DNA test with Jasper?”
Amber shot up from her chair, her voice climbing to a screech that could peel pains
Leo stood there, stunned stupid.
That nagging feeling he’d had since the first time he saw Stella–that she looked familiar box he couldhalt place her–suddenly made sense.
Was she really his uncle’s daughter?
“Miss Shaw.” Felix’s voice came out tight. His heart hammered against his ribs, breathing quick and shallow. His knuckles went white around his cane as he fought to keep himself steady. “What exactly are you implying?”
Stella ignored all of them. Her eyes stayed locked on Jasper.
“Mr. Moore. I want a DNA test with you. Yes or no? Just say it.”
“Yes.” The word came out hollow. “I’ll do it.”
His mind was blank–numb–still drowning in the wreckage of losing Nicole.
“Leo.” Elias nudged him.
“Right. Yeah. I’ll… I’ll handle it.”
Leo hurried out to make the arrangements.
Stella asked for an extra vial of Jasper’s blood before he left.
“Dad, what’s she planning to do with that? She’s not going to run some kind of experiment on him, is she? Hurt him somehow?”
Amber opened her mouth, but Mark grabbed her sleeve and yanked it hard, shooting her a look that said shut up.
“Grandfather. Uncle Jasper.” Leo paused at the door. “I’ll run the test myself. Wait for me.”
The door clicked shut behind him.
“A DNA test isn’t a bad idea.” Amber’s voice dripped with satisfaction. “At least it’ll stop certain people from trying to weasel their way into this family.”
She wasn’t worried. Not one bit.
Nicole had been kidnapped–snatched off the street by God knows who. She wasn’t on some vacation. Those men… They didn’t take women anywhere nice. If there’d been a baby–Jasper’s baby–it wouldn’t have survived what she went through. No way.

“Even if your mother came back from the dead,” Amber’s smile turned ugly, “she probably couldn’t tell you who your real father was.”
The words hung in the hospital room, poisonous and vile.
With Felix standing there, Amber felt bold. Untouchable.
But the memory of her last humiliation still burned. She wanted to strike back, to really let loose–but one look at Elias, standing there like a stone statue, made her think twice. So she settled for words. Sharp ones.
“Mom.” Sienna’s voice was quiet. Her eyes flicked to Elias, hoping for… something. A glance. Anything. He didn’t even look her way. Disappointment sank in her chest like a stone.
“What? It’s all over the internet. I’m just telling the truth. Can’t I say what’s true anymore?”
Stella turned to her slowly. Her expression was flat. Empty. But her voice carried ice. “Now. Let’s settle things between us.”
“You think you can hit me again?” Amber laughed, sharp and brittle. “This is Azure Peak City. I’m the daughter of the Moore family.”
“And?”
“Dad! You see that? She’s got no respect for you at all.”
Stella moved. One second she was standing there. The next, she had Amber’s arm twisted behind her back, and a sickening crack echoed through the room as the joint gave way.
“AAAAHHHH-!”
Amber’s scream tore through the air.
“Let go of my mother!”
Stella ignored Sienna completely. Her hand closed around Amber’s throat, and she dragged her–kicking, crying, flailing–toward the window.
Then half of Amber’s body was dangling over the edge. Tenth floor. Amber shook so hard she could barely breathe.
“Help-! Daddy–please-!”
“Mom!”
Sienna ran to Elias, tears streaming down her face. She grabbed at his arm. “Elias, please–make her stop!
She’ll kill her!”
Elias didn’t move. He just stood there, blocking Mark, his voice flat as ice. “My woman’s blowing off steam. Anyone who tries to stop her answers to me.”
Felix let out a bitter, humorless laugh.

“Bang.”
His body hit the floor.
“Mr. Moore!”
Cody rushed him to Azure General Hospital.
The entire Moore family showed up.

Leo stood by the bed, staring at his uncle’s pale, lifeless face. It was like looking at an empty shell. The soul behind those eyes was just… gone.
“Uncle? Can you hear me?”
Jasper didn’t respond. He just stared at the ceiling, eyes vacant, utterly still.
“Jasper.” Felix lowered himself onto the edge of the bed. His own face was pale with worry, etched deep with concern. He reached out and gently touched Jasper’s head.
No reaction.
“Jasper.” Felix’s voice was soft, trembling slightly. “Tell us where it hurts. Leo’s here. He’ll help you.”
Jasper was breathing. His heart was beating. But he might as well have been dead.
Amber stood by the door, watching. The longer she looked, the hotter her anger burned.
“Jasper, who exactly are you putting on this show for? That Nicole woman?”
At the name, Jasper’s eyes flickered. Just barely. He turned his head slowly and fixed her with a look so cold it could freeze blood.
“You’ve been saving yourself for her all these years? And for what? You think she did the same? God knows how many men she’s been with since she disappeared. Was it worth it? Really?”
“Aunt.” Leo’s voice cut through the room like a blade.
“What? I’m not wrong. She got snatched, locked up somewhere—you really think she wasn’t passed around like some commodity? She’s trash, Jasper. Used goods. And you’re lying here half–dead over some dirty woman who’s probably slept with half the city. What about us, huh? Your family? Do we mean nothing?”
