You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 940

It was almost two in the morning by the time Oliver finally got the baby to settle down. He crept into the master bedroom, clothes in hand, and took a quick shower in the guest bathroom. He did his best to be quiet, but the moment he slipped under the covers, Patricia stirred awake. She rolled over, wrapped in her blanket, and snuggled right into his chest. He pulled her close, holding her soft and sleepy form.

“Did I wake you?” he whispered.

“Why did you come back so late?” she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep.

“I was planning to come home earlier, but I ended up staying for dinner with my parents and brothers. How have you been sleeping these last few days?” His tone was gentle, full of concern.

“I’ve been okay,” Patricia replied quietly.

“Does your incision still hurt?”

“A little.”

When she said that, Oliver tightened his hold around her. He sounded worried. “You need to rest and recover. Let someone else handle the baby. Right now, you come first.”

Patricia let out a sigh. “I haven’t even spent one night with her since she was born. I feel bad about it.”

“She’s just a newborn. All she does is eat and sleep. She has no idea what guilt is. Trust me, she’s not going to remember any of this. Please, just focus on getting better. No more carrying the baby around. You have to take care of yourself.”

“Mm,” Patricia mumbled back, not really agreeing or disagreeing. She was too tired to keep talking. Since getting pregnant, she hadn’t stayed up this late in ages. Two in the morning felt like her absolute limit now. She remembered how she used to pull all-nighters without blinking, scheming against the Newton family. Life really does soften you when you feel safe. Only people who are always on edge can stay that alert.

“Sleep now,” Oliver whispered.

Patricia slept all the way until ten thirty the next morning. When she woke up, Oliver was already gone. She stayed in bed for a while, hugging her blanket and letting herself wake up slowly. Finally, she changed into some comfy loungewear and made her way downstairs.

Chapter 940 2

It wasn’t just inconvenient. He also had to keep an eye on Hector, worried that one day they might both lose their heads and end up together again.

“I don’t mind either way. It depends on what’s easiest for Chelsea.”

“I don’t care if it’s convenient or not. She’ll have to make it work,” Atticus replied, sounding a little desperate. The way he said it left no doubt about how much he disliked Hector.

Patricia was standing at the top of the stairs, listening to their conversation. It reminded her of something Chelsea had said that night when they’d been watching TV together.

Chapter 940 3

Chelsea had laughed about it at the time. “I think watching you go through childbirth really scared him. Maybe it finally hit him how tough it is for women.”
