Meanwhile...
"Can’t contact them." Penny’s face soured as she held Brad’s phone, trying to reach her husband’s number, but it was unavailable. "Did he turn off his phone?"
Her frown deepened as she dialed Atlas’s number. Penny pressed the phone to her ear, perking up as it rang.
"It’s ringing!" she mused, listening to the ringing, waiting for it to be answered. But then, the operator’s voice was heard.
Slowly, she pulled her phone away and gazed at it bitterly.
"Atlas, do you know you’re disappointing me right now?" She looked at her phone, speaking to it as though it were her brother. "How can you put your phone on silent when your sister is in danger?"
Penny deadpanned, frowning deeply as if Atlas was the only one she tried to reach. Zoren’s phone seemed to be off, but she quickly assumed it wasn’t her husband’s fault. It was probably just a signal issue. However, her brain had no space for an excuse for her brother, Atlas.
Penny only memorized three numbers: Zoren, Atlas, and Yugi.
Of course, she tried calling her husband first because, obviously, he had the highest chance of having a heart attack in this situation.
"My poor baby’s heart is too fragile," she sighed, snapping her attention back to their hostages.
Brad and the other pilot were still conscious, though they were tied—cuffed to keep them from doing anything suspicious. The third man, however, was still unconscious. The moment Penny’s eyes landed on them, Brad and the pilot stiffened, holding their breaths.
Whatever the reason, they wanted nothing to do with her staring.
Penny sighed and shook her head. "Should I call Yugi instead?" she hummed before nodding to herself, then dialed his number. But just as it rang, the screen suddenly turned black.
"Huh?" She blinked, tapping the phone against her palm. "What’s going on? Why did the screen turn black?"
She tapped the screen a few more times and pressed some buttons until it showed the drained battery icon. Her face twisted in dismay as she glared at Brad.
"I hate you," she mumbled, clicking her tongue in frustration. "I really hate you. How can you not charge your phone?"
With that, Penny pushed herself up and made her way to the cockpit. Shawn was already maneuvering the aircraft toward their destination.
"Hey, big fella, can you charge this in there?" she said, holding the phone between her thumb and forefinger.
Shawn glanced at her and took the phone. "Did you call someone?"
"Tried, and failed," she sighed, moving to the other seat and starting to look for a charging port. "The phone’s dead before anyone could pick up. They should have extra phones here, right?"
Shawn kept his eyes on her before intuitively placing the dead phone on his side. "There’s an extra power bank in here, Miss Penny."
"If they died, much better. But if they live, they’re going to end up dead," he continued. "Dead men tell no tales. Besides, even if they were caught, they wouldn’t talk."
