Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 1002

Hillary was confused as she asked, "Shayne, why do you want me to sign this contract anyway? If you're able to pay for my tuition fees in Oxford, I'd repay your kindness to me as well, you know."

Shayne was casually toying with an intricately made lighter. The lighter was flickering and clicking while he played.

He replied with a carefree tone, "Based on actual data, people who have graduated from top ten universities in the world make an average of two hundred to three hundred thousand bucks annually unless they stand out. Even if you're an Oxford graduate, you'd only be making two to three hundred thousand bucks annually for me even if you starve yourself. Look, even if you're really good, you'd only make five hundred thousand bucks annually at most. It's barely a livable amount and besides, our country's currency will have the potential to rise in the next few years."

"I'll give you another example. Look, how much do you think you'd make annually if you choose to focus on your career locally after you graduate from the top ten elite universities in the world?"

Hillary was clueless as she shook her head.

With a loud click, Shayne extinguished his lighter and threw it on the table before staring intensely at her as he said, "Having an annual salary of six hundred thousand bucks locally is pretty impressive on its own already. However, I'll have to spend a lot more than that for your university tuition fees when you study in the United Kingdom. Did you know that with the same amount of money, I'd be able to buy off a small business and with that purchase alone, those stocks will at least be valued at a couple million bucks?

"However, I'm able to loan you that money because that amount is only like pocket change to me but what's in it for me if I sponsor your education at Oxford University?"

Hillary was completely stunned after hearing those blunt and extremely realistic scenarios laid out by Shayne.

It seemed like she truly lacked any real world experience.

Shayne was behaving as if he was having a very casual conversation with her. She was standing with a forced determined demeanor while he sat down facing her.

However, it seemed like she felt a little guilty.

That was because she was unable to answer Shayne after being questioned by him.

Hillary silently took a deep breath before asking him, "Why are you so certain that I'm able to become a celebrity, Shayne?"

Shayne raised his eyes and a subtle smile could be seen at the bottom of his eyes as he said, "Some people believe that if one is born into a wealthy family with resources, by just using their family’s wealth alone, their riches will last longer than three generations. The more orderly society is, the larger the gap of social imbalance will be. However, even if you're not born into a wealthy family, your appearance alone, would give you a head start as well."

Hillary gulped as she said, "But I don't want to make a living with just my appearance alone."

Shayne laughed.

He was laughing at how immature she was.

Shayne stood up and strode over to her. He stood in front of her, lowered his head slightly and stared at her as he said, "You're not going to use your appearance and beauty to make a living but you can use those qualities as a weapon as your personal propellant. When you're at the top of the world, who would even think or care about you using your appearance or whether you struggled to get there in the first place, right? You can't rely solely on your beauty as a celebrity to be famous, you know."

The corners of Hillary's mouth twitched as she was speechless for a good long while.

Shayne had taught her a lesson and she found herself lost and unable to make a solid decision on a whim.

"But why? Why a celebrity?"

Shayne bluntly replied with his arms crossed as he said, "I'm a businessman and let's say that you're a product, my only intention is to package this product as a celebrity because doing so brings the both of us the biggest amount of benefits."

"What if I never become famous?"

"Come on now, even if you manage to become a C-List celebrity, your annual salary will be significantly more than five million bucks. Besides, do you really have that little faith in yourself?"

Hillary could clearly tell that Shayne was never relaxing leisurely in the first place. It seemed he had been completely focused on the numbers the entire time!

"Shayne, it'll be such a waste that you're not working as a career planner." Hillary praised.

Shayne was not a humble man as he simply replied, "Wouldn't being a professional career planner be a huge waste for my talents?"

Hillary nodded as she thought about just how arrogant the man truly was.

Hillary said, "I now understand what you're trying to do, Shayne. However, I need a week to make up my mind on such a huge decision."

"Three days. No more, no less."

Hillary was speechless.

How unreasonable.
