After Hillary got up the following morning, she went to a coffee shop to hang out with her best friend, Cindy Gray.
She had no intention of staying at home even for an extra minute.
Winson, Lina and Cara were all having breakfast together at the dining table early in the morning.
Hillary did not even bother to greet nor even glance at them as she walked directly out the door by the dining table.
Winson was displeased as he exclaimed with a bitter look, "Just what kind of an attitude are you showing us first thing in the morning, young lady. How could you just leave without greeting us!"
Hillary coldly exclaimed, "Morning."
She was brushing him off completely.
"You!"
When Lina noticed Winson's boiling rage, she reached out to gently pat the back of his hand while hinting at him with her gaze to not ruin their plans by getting angry.
Lina then spoke with a gentle tone, "Where are you heading off to this early in the morning, Hillary?"
Hillary replied, "Should I report my whereabouts to you?"
Lina maintained her warm smile as she said, "Even if you're heading out, you should still at least sit down and have some breakfast too, you know. Although you're still young, skipping breakfast will still be bad for your stomach."
Cara could no longer listen as she pouted her lips and said, "Stop nagging at her, mom. She'll be ungrateful for your kindness anyway."
Hillary headed straight out without looking back once.
Lina reminded her, "Hey! Hillary, we're going to have dinner tonight, so get home earlier. Your father will be bringing both you and Cara to visit your uncles!"
Lina exclaimed in a worried tone after Hillary left, "I'm not sure if she'll actually come home earlier tonight."
…
Cindy was Hillary's high school friend and the duo shared an extremely close bond.
Cindy chose a regular coffee shop to hang out at.
Cindy greeted Hillary with a huge smile when she noticed her arrival as she said, "Whoa, the study genius is here. Congratulations, Hillary for receiving an offer letter from Oxford University."
Hillary rolled her eyes at her as she spoke with a sigh, "What does it matter if I've gotten an offer letter from Oxford? It's not like I'm a hundred percent certain that I can go anyway."
Cindy asked with a puzzled tone, "Why aren't you going when you've already been accepted?"
"My dad will never allow me to study abroad anyway."
Cindy was furious when she heard that as she exclaimed, "Could it be due to that evil b*tch?"
Hillary shook her head and seemed a little mentally exhausted as she said, "I don't know. Even if it was her doing, my dad still has to agree to it anyway. However, regardless of whose decision it was, it's all the same to me."
Cindy asked, "Are you really not going to do anything about it?"
Hillary raised her head and looked at Cindy before biting her lips. She was unsure if she should tell Cindy about what Shayne had previously said to her since she had no idea where to start anyway. Hillary then said, "Cindy, if you find out that I've stooped to extreme levels to reach my goals and in turn did things that you'd look down on me for, will you think what I did was wrong?"
Cindy stared at her with a funny look as she teased, "You wouldn't have done that for your tuition fees now, would you?"
Hillary was speechless.
Hillary had nearly told her that it was close to what she had thought.
Cindy said, "Hillary, I trust you. I'll support you no matter what choices you make. Look, if you're stressing out about the tuition fees, I can ask my mother for my allowance although you might have to be frugal to support your expenses abroad."
Hillary chuckled and said, "Thank you, Cindy. Truly."
"Hey, we're best friends. What is there to thank me for when I didn't exactly help you with anything. However, when I finally get a job after I graduate from university, I'll have money and that way, I'll have no problem paying for your living!"
Hillary picked up her glass of orange juice and clinked it against Cindy's glass as she spoke with a laugh, "All hail Cindy."
…
Hillary returned home late at night again.
However, she noticed a guest sitting on the couch in the living room when she entered.
It seemed Winson had changed his attitude toward her recently. He cracked a delightful smile before waving at her as he said, "Come over here, Hillary. This is my friend, President Lewis."
Hillary nodded her head at President Lewis politely as she greeted him, "Greetings, Uncle Lewis."
President Lewis was experiencing a mid-life crisis. He had a beer belly with a receding hairline while his face looked extremely oily. He was staring at Hillary with a creepily lustful gaze as he spoke with a smile, "Why are you still calling me, Uncle Lewis? Oh Hillary, don't think for a second that I'm just a regular old man. I go out on business trips all the time and my heart is still youthful!"
Hillary scoffed and thought to herself, 'Goddamn creep!'
Winson said, "Oh Hillary, you know, President Lewis is a pretty impressive man. Although he's only in his forties, he has amassed over a few hundred million bucks in wealth. You should really learn from him!"
Hillary nodded obediently as she spoke in a calm tone, "I'm going to study now, dad so I can be just like Uncle Lewis to have a net wealth of over a couple million bucks."
Winson exclaimed, "You…"
Hillary then turned around and headed straight upstairs.
Winson immediately apologized to President Lewis, "I'm terribly sorry, President Lewis. My daughter has been spoiled rotten by me, so she has developed quite the temper. Please forgive her immaturity, President Lewis."
President Lewis' gaze had been focused on Hillary's beautiful and slender back the entire time as he left a seemingly charming praise, "Beautiful people will often have quite the personality. It'll be boring if they don't. Man, Winson, your daughter has quite the body and her appearance is truly stunning. Well, the only problem is her young age. Hahaha."
Lina jokingly teased, "Oh, you men will still complain about the woman's age being too young. Wow, you guys surely can be picky when it comes to women!"
President Lewis laughed lustfully while pointing at Lina as he said, "Oh, please Madam Jacob, you're too mean now. I actually prefer a woman's personality and age isn't a problem to me. I'm not picky when it comes to that!"
'Hmph, you obviously won't be picky since the girl is only eighteen anyway.'
Winson asked, "So, President Lewis, do you really like my daughter?"
President Lewis replied, "She's not bad. Not bad at all."
Before President Lewis left, he patted Winson's shoulder while standing beside his car as he spoke in a long winded tone, "If you were to agree to this arranged marriage by having Hillary marry me, I'd give this much money to your family."
President Lewis raised his palm in front of Winson.
"Five hundred thousand bucks?"
"Five million."
