The first day of Lunar New Year.
They both got down from the car and entered the house.
Heather was surprised when she saw Shayne. “Shayne, why did you suddenly come?”
“I’m here to visit you, Grandma!”
Heather laughed. “It must be hard on you, coming over so early in the morning. I guess you must have missed Yanny, right?”
“Ahem.” Shayne covered his mouth with his fist and coughed lightly. He was made slightly awkward by Heather’s directness.
Yanny lightly smiled at him. This man who has gone through so much still had moments where he would blush.
“I’ll bring you to go wash up.” Yanny passed him a new toothbrush but there was no new towel at home.
Shayne swept a glance at the towel rack and asked, “Which is yours?”
“The pink one.”
Shayne took the pink towel and washed his face.
Yanny was standing there while looking at her phone. She realized that Shayne had transferred a huge amount to her at four in the morning. A hundred thousand bucks.
Yanny took her phone and asked him, “Why did you transfer money to me?”
He transferred so much at once too.
Shayne wiped his face with the towel. He looked at her with his clear eyes, hints of playfulness in them. “I was happy so I transferred money to you.”
Yanny was speechless. ‘Just because he was physically relieved, he became happy?’
Yanny accepted it fully. “I’ll treat this as my new year’s red packet then.”
The toilet was a little small. With Shayne’s long legs, he had to bend down a little when he exited the toilet. When he passed by Yanny, he said, “The house is too cold so get Grandma two air conditioners.”
Yanny smiled quietly. She felt warm in her heart.
However, Yanny has offered to install air conditioners for Heather a few times but Heather refused in order to save electricity and money.
Heather would listen to Shayne more. This time around, Yanny decided to let Shayne speak and try to convince her to install an air conditioner.
Winter in North City was cold and wet. Yanny, who was still young, could barely handle the coldness in the countryside, let alone an old person like Heather.
In the afternoon, Yanny made hotpot. She threw in a lot of frozen meatballs and crab sticks.
Shayne has never eaten foods like these before so he was interested in them. He took a purple rice ball out and asked Yanny, “What is this? There’s so much coloring in it. Is it edible?”
Yanny looked at him and laughed, “Master Shayne, you really are not of this world. This is a purple rice ball. It’s been colored naturally with purple rice. Just eat it, it won’t poison you.”
Shayne’s mouth twitched a little before he fiercely stuffed the purple rice ball into his mouth.
Upon biting it, he realized that it was not bad.
Seeing them bicker, Heather’s mood turned great. She drank some alcohol with the young couple as well to bring in the new year.
After the meal, Heather was groggy due to the alcohol, so she went back to her room to take a nap.
Yanny cleaned up the table. There was no dishwasher here. The kitchen tap does not have hot water either. Doing dishes was a matter of freezing one to death.
While Yanny was washing the dishes, Shayne hugged her from behind.
Yanny asked, “Are you going back in the afternoon?”
“Are you chasing me away?”
“If not, where will you sleep at night? With Grandma around, you can’t sleep with me.”
Furthermore, the house was already so cold during the daytime, it would be worse at night. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth so how would he get used to staying here?
Shayne said matter-of-factly, “Well, if a girl like you can stay here, why can’t I?”
Yanny smiled but said nothing. She took his hands on her waist and put them underneath the running tap. Shayne subconsciously retreated as he yelled, “F*ck, this is not hot water?”
