Yanny was being held hostage in the hotel lobby for over 20 hours and was absolutely terrified.
An African child nearby was so terrified that he was about to cry. However, Yanny immediately covered the child's mouth since she was afraid that the child might agitate the terrorists and cause them to shoot the child dead.
Yanny was squatting at a corner as she glanced intensely at the four African men who had their faces wrapped in black scarves. They were each holding an assault rifle in their hands while they kept a close eye on their hostages and every movement outside of the hotel with a cold and menacing glare on their faces.
There was a plasma TV on the wall in the main lobby. The local news was playing on it and it was reporting about the terrorist attack.
However, it was unsure what was going on with the local police since no officers had been deployed yet. This made every hostage extremely nervous in the main lobby.
The owner of the hotel was not a native. He was dragged away and was being interrogated by the terrorists.
Yanny could not understand what they were talking about since they were speaking in Khoisan.
Ramona inched closer and whispered to Yanny, "I think they're discussing how they're going to deal with the cops. They're also talking about demanding a ransom from the hostages families and planning a large scale attack on the community to make these incompetent cops panic about what to do next."
As Ramona listened closely to their conversation, she suddenly frowned and said, "Oh no, they've decided to blow this place up."
Yanny's heart trembled as she knew that those people were not regular thugs since their motive was not to gain money as all they wanted was attention, so there was a high possibility of them completely leveling this hotel.
The terrorists initially dragged the hotel owner outside only for a talk. However, they suddenly raised their gun and they shot his head at point blank, killing him instantly.
The hostages in the main lobby started screaming loudly again, causing another uproar.
Yanny analyzed the situation rationally as she said, "If this continues, they will kill us off one by one. Hey Ramona, is there any way you can distract the terrorists?"
Gideon took a glance at the tall and well built African men on the outside and said, "They all have guns and even if we storm out, we'd be shot dead on sight before we can even distract them. This method won't work."
Yanny stared intensely at their kidnappers on the outside with her sharp gaze and said, "I think the terrorists speak English. What if we can negotiate with them?"
Ramona stared wide eyed at Yanny as she said, "Are you insane?! Based on what I know, they are all madmen and if you were to negotiate terms with them, you'll only end up like the hotel owner. Extremists like them are very easily agitated, so don't be so naive, Yanny."
"But we'll only be shot dead in the end too if we sit here and do nothing. Look, if there's someone among us who'll negotiate terms with them, we can buy some time for the local police to save us."
Yanny was about to stand up after she finished saying that. However, Ramona grabbed her arm immediately and said, "It's dangerous, Yanny!"
Yanny then held onto Ramona's hand and shot a determined gaze at her as she said, "Trust me, if I don't go, none of us will be able to hang on until help arrives."
"I'll go with you!"
Both Yanny and Ramona stood up in the lobby and walked toward the exit.
The terrorists that were standing by the door pointed their guns at them.
Yanny asked them in English, "Do you guys understand English? We're not here to escape, we just want to negotiate with you."
The terrorists looked at each other before glancing back at the two weak and helpless women as they exploded in a fit of rage, "Don't you play tricks on me! I'll shoot both of you dead! Put your hands up!"
Ramona nervously grabbed onto Yanny's hand while their palms were both drenched in cold sweat.
Yanny forced a calm look as she raised her hands with Ramona.
The terrorist then ordered them, "Get over here!"
Both Ramona and Yanny felt like they were treading on thin ice as they paced slowly over to the terrorists with their arms raised.
The terrorist laughed at them as he said, "Negotiate? What can you guys even negotiate with us about? Do you know that we're now your gods? All it takes it for me to pull the trigger and I'll send all of you to hell! You guys actually think you can negotiate with god? Keep dreaming!"
All the terrorists burst out laughing. They were cackling out loud and seemed insanely arrogant.
Yanny took a deep breath and just as she was about to speak, one of the terrorists was shot in the head from behind and immediately slumped over on the ground.
