Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 109

In the early morning, the Fudd Group's Building was bathed in the warm morning light, with busy traffic as the whole city had just woken up.

Verian had been busy with the Yash Company’s animation manuscript, having arrived at the Creative Department at 9.30am.

The closing date for Yash Company’s drawing was tonight. She had to draw the characters before she getting off work. Since early on, she had a prototype for an anime character with no difficulties of drawing, it was just somewhat time-consuming.

After a busy day, when she was about to get off work, Verian printed out the drawing and entered Nancy's office.

"Director Xander, this is the animation manuscript for Yash Company. I have already finished drawing it."

Nancy glanced contemptuously at her manuscript and sneered, "I was thinking about just how good you were. You want to beat me with such a manuscript?"

"Whether I can beat you or not, it's not for me to say. Naturally, it’s also not you who has the final say. We will just look at the competition results."

"Humph, let me tell you this: Verian Mont, you’ll never win!"

Nancy had always been upset with her, so she did not bother arguing with her. "Let's just wait and see!"

After Verian handed in the draft, there was no work for her as she sat at her place, turning on her phone to check the time.

She would go off work in half an hour. When she thought about going to watch a movie with Heaton tonight, her heart jumped like there were several small deer inside of it.

She was planning tonight’s date in her mind and sent a text message to Heaton Fudd, asking—

"What shall we have for dinner later?"

Soon, there was a reply. "You decide."

Verian always felt that these two words were very perfunctory and he had no sense of participation. "The movie starts at 6.30pm. Let's just buy some snacks and bring them into the cinema to snack on. Shall we go to the restaurant to eat after watching the movie?"

"Sure."

A clear and simple answer. It was just like Heaton's usual capable style.

A few minutes later, the man sent another text message. "I'm going to have a video conference meeting after work. It’ll take about half an hour. You can come to my office and wait."

Verian remembered about her trip to the Peninsula Hotel to get Neil Jackman to sign a contract yesterday. Later on, she left in Heaton’s car, and the car she drove was still in the underground parking lot of the Peninsula Hotel. She estimated that the parking fee alone would now probably be several hundred bucks. If she did not drive the car back soon, she would not be able to afford the expensive parking fee. "My car is still in the Peninsula Hotel’s parking lot. I’ll go to the Peninsula Hotel after work and drive to the cinema to wait for you. It’ll almost be time for the movie to begin after you finish your meeting and arrive there."

...

After work, Verian went to the Peninsula Hotel to pick up the car. After arriving at the cinema, she bought lots of snacks to handle her hunger and also bought a bucket of popcorn and two glasses of coke.

However, apart from boiled and purified water, Heaton only seemed to drink plain coffee. Things like carbonated drinks and popcorn seemed incompatible with him.

Verian imagined a scene where Heaton, in his splendid clothing, was sitting side-by-side with her in the movie theater, eating popcorn and watching a movie. The corners of her lips could not help but rise slightly, causing ripples.

Sitting on the lounge chair at the cinema’s entrance, she waited for more than 20 minutes. She glanced at the time. It was already ten minutes past six.

She had no idea if his video conference was over. She wanted to send a text message to him but was afraid to interrupt his work. After all, the fact that a man with social status like Heaton’s was willing to spare such precious time to do childish things like going on a date with her was already giving her a lot of face. If she kept urging him, would it not seem like she was too petty?

If she could not be more generous, how could she compare herself with the shrewd and beautiful women around him?

Thinking of this, she lay on the table and continued to wait in boredom.

When the time on her watch showed that the time was 6.20pm, the broadcasting voice rang in the hall.

"May our guests for "Contract Men and Women" at 6.30pm check-in at the ticket gate now."

The movie was about to begin in 10 minutes and Verian could not help it as sent a text message to Heaton.
