Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 1151

In the Winter of her second year in England, she was on her university break. Yanny was bored staying at home. She picked up her backpack once again, but this time, headed to the Middle East instead.

At the end of the year, Yanny’s professor lectured on the topic of war and arts.

Hence, Yanny went to Iraq and Syria.

During her journey of cultural study in Syria, she brought a homeless Kurdish child home.

When Yanny brought that dark skinned Kurdish child before Louis, he was stunned.

Louis took off his glasses, then asked in surprise, “This kid…”

Yanny patted the child on the back and said, “Hajar, call Grandpa.”

During those days, Yanny had spent her days with that Kurdish child and taught him a lot of simple Chinese and English.

Hajar grinned, revealing his white teeth. He smiled at Louis, then greeted Louis in broken Chinese, “Hi, Grandpa.”

Louis welcomed Yanny and the child into the house.

“Where’s the kid’s parents?”

Yanny explained, “Hajar’s parents died in the war. Kurdish people don’t have their own country and are living as refugees in a foreign land. I got to know Hajar on my trip. Back then, he passed out from hunger, so I sent him to the hospital.”

Louis felt sympathetic to the child’s experience, but he replied logically, “This world has a lot of people that lost their homes and country. You can’t just bring a child home every time you go on a trip right? Where will you find the energy to care for them?”

“Old Frank, I came looking for you the moment I got back because I have something to ask of you. The Kurdish people have over thirty million refugees. I can’t care for all of them. However, I met with Hajar, and it’s some sort of fate. I can’t just leave him to die. It’s just like how you took me in as your goddaughter. Back then, I was just like Hajar, without family and hope. It’s you who gave me a chance at life. Due to this very incident, I can’t bear to leave this child alone. Old Frank, I want to adopt this child. When I brought him into England, I tried everything I could for his visa. I want to let him stay in England and have an education.”

Louis frowned while he pondered, and said, “He has no nationality. This will be difficult.”

“I’ve already applied with ZF to adopt Hajar. If we can let Hajar attain British nationality, that would be a lot easier.”

Louis stared at Yanny and slowly began laughing. He consoled her, “Nevermind. I think this kid is fated to be with you. What about this, I’ll send someone over to let them know. It shouldn’t be that difficult.”

Yanny felt bad for troubling Louis. “Old Frank, thank you very much. I seem to be always asking for your help.”

Louis laughed heartily and said, “I have no kids of my own. You and Sam are fated to be with me. As long as both of you don’t forget me and conduct my funeral, I’ll consider my care for both of you as worthwhile!”

Yanny’s eyes teared up slightly. “I’ve never experienced any fatherly love from my biological father, but I feel it from you. Samuel is right. Sometimes, blood relation is nothing. Fate and encounters are more important.”

Old Frank got up, then headed to the study room with his hands behind his back. He said in a kind and gentle voice, “Come prepare the ink for me. Without you around these days, that kid is no longer visiting me. I even have to prepare my own ink for my calligraphy. My old wrists are so sore.”

Yanny laughed, then quickly followed him. “I’ll prepare your ink right away.”

From then on, Yanny gained another family in this world. It was her adopted son, Hajar.

On the second year’s Lunar New Year Eve, Samantha was afraid that Shayne would be lonely. After her reunion dinner with Old Master Jinn, she dragged Shayne along to go out for a stroll.

The movies on the first day of Lunar New Year were all festive films. When they queued up for tickets, the cinema was filled with people which was quite the lively scene.

It was slightly over half an hour before the movie started. Samantha dragged Shayne along to buy milk tea from the tea shop in the mall.

Shayne seemed disinterested. He made an excuse to go to the toilet and smoked cigarettes for half an hour.

Samantha had to call him repeatedly, giving him no peace before he reluctantly accompanied her to watch a festive movie.

Samantha sat beside him, eating her popcorn and laughing like crazy as she watched the movie.

Meanwhile, Shayne looked at her with a frown. Was it that funny?

He suddenly recalled that the last time he watched a movie with someone like that was two years ago.

When he watched the movie with Yanny, it did not feel that long and unbearable.

Halfway through, Shayne used the toilet as an excuse and ran away once more.

By the time the movie ended, Samantha called Shayne again. He said that he would be waiting at the carpark for her and told her to head over straight away.

Once she got in the car, Samantha criticized him, saying, “You said you’ll accompany me for the movie, yet you left so soon. What kind of brother are you?”

“You’re the one that dragged me out for such a boring movie, yet you’re complaining? No more next time.”

Samantha made funny faces at him.

On Lunar New Year’s Eve, the traffic was quite congested with many cars. Most of them were people going out for reunion dinner and movies.

Nearby, on a big screen in the mall, a movie trailer was being played. It was an English art film that was about to be shown in the country.

Shayne merely gave it a glance, having no interest in those cheesy love stories.

Meanwhile, Samantha excitedly tugged at Shayne’s sleeve. She stared at the big screen in the distance and said, “Brother, come watch this with me on Valentine’s Day! That movie’s reviews are superb. It’ll be screened in the country on this year’s Valentine’s Day!”

Shayne frowned. “I’m not your boyfriend. Why are you asking me to watch some Valentine’s Day film? Go and quickly find a boyfriend. You’ll be an old lady soon.”

Samantha was speechless. She was still a beautiful young lady in her prime. Since when did she turn into an old lady?!

Samantha huffed and said, “Just say it if you don’t want to go with me. I’ll find someone else to watch it with me!”

The black Bugatti drove past the big screen.

Along the way, Samantha nagged him like a chatterbox, “Brother, I just did a quick search on the director for that English movie. It’s so miraculous as its director seemed to have just popped out of nowhere without any news. This is the debut movie, and the only one.”

Shayne asked, “You’re just watching a movie, so why do you care so much about the director’s information?”

“I’m majoring in screenwriting and editing. The department head gave us an assignment for the new year to watch twenty movies and to study the movie’s director. Sigh, a genius is useless without resources. If I don’t watch any works, my head will be empty.”
