Shayne put down all of his work when Yanny got pregnant. He stayed at home to take care of Yanny even though she felt that he was simply overreacting to her pregnancy.
Yanny had also put aside her work. At home, besides taking care of her body for the pregnancy, all Yanny did was read.
If not, she would cuddle up with Shayne on the sofa in the study room while watching movies with a projector.
Before she got pregnant, Yanny was not used to staying up late.
Now that she was pregnant, along with Shayne, Yanny stayed up late out of boredom.
These days, she had been going to bed around midnight but slept throughout the mornings.
Shayne even took the initiative to consult Ben if the sleeping routine she had now would affect her pregnancy.
Ben reassured that it was more important to have a relaxed mood instead. He added that there would not be issues as long as Yanny slept enough and did not feel tired.
Three months before Yanny’s pregnancy, Shayne was always anxious. He would wake up in the middle of the night to check on her.
He would only be reassured when he heard her steady and long breaths while looking at her sleeping peacefully.
During her fourth month of pregnancy, Shayne was worried that Yanny would be overwhelmed by the long period of time stuck at home.
Hence, Shayne got her a small pet.
It was a chubby and small orange cat.
It was a pretty and adorable cat with clear blue eyes.
The sunlight from the warm sun in the winter shone through the wooden blinds into the study room onto a man and a lady seated on the sofa.
The man was lying casually against the sofa while the lady was leaning in his embrace and holding a chubby small orange cat. They were wrapped in the embrace of the warm sun, with the bright light shining onto their brows.
Shayne was reading Yanny the English version of Shakespeare’s original piece of work, ‘Romeo and Juliet’.
Listening to Shayne’s fluent British slang, Yanny stroked the kitten while she suddenly thought of the incident that took place ten years ago when they first met.
Yanny smiled and looked at him. “When you first arrived at the Jacob’s family, why did you tell Cara that you were a junkie and that you got suspended from school because you got into fights?”
Shayne got a bit of a headache when Yanny brought up this incident. He rubbed his brow ridge and sighed, “Ah, Cara had a look on her face as if she couldn’t wait to jump on me. I needed to protect myself from her. She would have clung onto me if I had told her that I graduated from an Ivy-League school. I had to keep my name clean for Mrs. Jinn.”
Yanny cracked up upon listening to his words. Though she roughly knew of his intentions, Yanny felt that Shayne was exaggerating. “Isn’t Master Shayne capable of putting up with people like Cara? I don’t think Cara would be able to do anything to you if you don’t allow it. However, with an interesting soul like yours, it would be better if you keep a low-profile.”
With his long legs crossed elegantly, Shayne raised his brows and looked at Yanny. “How could those tacky girls out there compete with my wife? Those who think that I would mess around outside must have never met my wife. Those who have met my wife must know that these women are incomparable to her.”
Placing her fingers on his lips, she asked teasingly, “Shayne, I don’t think I have ever asked you about your past relationships. Why don't you come clean today?”
“...”
Shayne plopped down on the sofa in attempts to pretend that he was dead.
Using her legs, Yanny kicked his waist. “Shayne?”
After a while, Shayne sat up and replied, “I was in a few relationships before I met you even though you know that I have only given my love to you. After meeting you, I only got involved with a woman named Yanny. I have had a few non-serious relationships and I’m definitely not a blank piece of paper. Though now that I have met you, there are colors added to the piece of paper.”
Yanny was considered possessive in relationships in which she could not stand the thought of sharing her other half with others. However, she was not one to dismiss another’s past relationships.
Everyone had their past. When she met Shayne, he was already twenty-five and he was not a young kid anymore. It was understandable that he had a few past relationships.
It would be unrealistic if he had told her that he was a monk before he had met her and that he wasn’t tempted by other women.
It was not considered discrimination for a normal being to be involved in a few proper relationships.
Touching his earlobes, Yanny said, “There are times when I feel really happy that you belong to me for the rest of your life.”
Under the embrace of the warm sun, Shayne leaned in and kissed her. With his large hands, he moved the kitten onto the rug beneath the sofa.
The kitten was in the way.
Yanny chuckled and asked deliberately, “What are you doing?”
Biting her lips softly, with a low and deep voice, he teased, “I want to do something bad.”
…
Yanny slowly showed symptoms of being in the third trimester.
She was throwing up whatever she ate.
Shayne was feeling helpless and anxious, and he could only watch while she threw up.
There was once when Yanny had a bite of pickled fish, and had to rush to the washroom to throw up until she coughed out bile.
Shayne even said helplessly, “Let’s not have the child, Yanny. Let’s just give up.”
After throwing up and cleaning her mouth, Yanny wiped her mouth clean with tissue and teased, “If we don’t want the baby, where should we return it to? I, too, don’t feel like having a child now, but we can’t be regretting the pregnancy at this point.”
