Verian’s eyes violently trembled as she squatted by the toilet bowl.
However, she immediately purged her mind off that possibility…
It would be impossible since every time after she finished the deed with Heaton, she would always take contraceptive pills...
It was impossible for her to get pregnant.
It was then that Heaton grabbed onto her hand and pulled her to him. His dark pearly eyes were gently focused on her.
Verian took a deep breath before saying, “I-Perhaps my stomach isn’t feeling that well recently. Besides, I’ve been staying up late a lot, so this month’s hasn’t came yet.”
However, what if she had gotten pregnant in that sliver of chance?
As that thought flashed across her mind, Verian’s heart trembled violently.
Heaton did not probe further, all he did was raise his hand and gently pat her forehead. “Still feel awful?”
She shook her head and buried her weakened self into him while hugging his waist. She spoke in a weak tone, “Not anymore. Maybe I haven’t been resting well lately. Don’t worry, alright?”
Verian raised her tiny face and gave him a glance. Upon seeing that he was not suspicious, she rushed him by saying, “Get out now. If you don’t leave now, you won’t make it in time for work.”
…
Verian was completely unfocused for her entire workday morning.
She instinctively felt her belly. She could not actually be pregnant now, right?
However, she actually had taken the medicine after the deed was done and the only day she had missed a dose was the night Heaton had brought Sunny home. However, she could clearly remember that all Heaton had done was pet her body heavily since they were arguing then. It seemed Heaton had merely intended to humiliate her, and he did not end up inside her body.
Hence, based on this theory, it was impossible for her to be pregnant.
With that, she carried the thought in her mind and stopped overthinking.
When lunch hour came, Verian received a phone call from Heaton while she was having a meal in the cafeteria.
When she picked up, that deep, manly voice echoed from the other end. “Have you eaten your lunch yet?”
“Yeah, I’m eating right now. What about you?”
“Was just about to.”
Heaton seemed to be busy with work while calling her. Verian looked at the food on her plate, as she seemed to have a very poor appetite. After taking a bite from her dumpling, she asked in a gentle tone, “Heaton, I don’t feel too well today. I’ll apply for leave at noon to leave work earlier before coming over to look for you, okay?”
Heaton raised his brows then said, “Sure, I’ll have Kush pick you up.”
“It’ll only take more than ten minutes on foot. There’s no need to trouble Assistant Kush. I’ll drop by on my own.”
“Are you still feeling awful? I’ll take you to the hospital at noon.”
Verian pouted her tiny mouth as she picked and toyed with the food on her plate. While pouting, she said, “I don’t like hospitals and my mother died in a hospital from losing too much blood when she gave birth to me. Therefore, I’m kinda traumatized by them.”
This statement she was telling him was a lie.
It was true that her mother had died from blood loss after giving birth to her, but Verian had never been afraid of going to a hospital.
She had an even more important task to do at noon.
Heaton let out a soft sigh from the other end as he spoke with a slightly compassionate tone, “You’re leaving me without much of an option here. Fine, drop by earlier at noon.”
“Alright, sure.”
After Verian hung up the call, the smile on her face gradually faded away.
Even though Heaton had something to do with her father’s death, she came to realize more often now that she was unable to harden her heart to incite vengeance on him.
She had fallen in love with Heaton, truly fallen in love…
She had fallen in love with him long before this.
