“All done.”
The man stared intently at her with his dark pearly eyes. He stared at her so much that she became bashful. It was only after the man accepted it that he grabbed onto her hand, holding it up to the edge of his lips to give her palm, the back of her hand, and her fingers a kiss.
Every inch of Verian’s body felt numb and she felt as if she had been electrocuted. All he did was nothing more than kiss her hand but in her eyes, it felt as if he was expressing something. Because of this, she unknowingly started overthinking, which caused her face to blush.
“Hurry, hurry up and go to bed. I’m tired now!”
She rushed on top of the bed, pulled the covers over her head, and slept. The man followed behind and laid in bed with her. He pulled her over, lowering his head as he said in a serious tone next to her ear, “Babe, don’t leave me again next time. It took a lot for me to be with you.”
Although Verian’s heart was moved by his sudden confession, she was completely confused by what she heard.
Heaton was behaving far too abnormally tonight!
He would never call her something as romantically cheesy as ‘babe’. Not to mention, this was something Heaton would usually have never uttered from his mouth.
Verian turned around and placed her tiny hand on his forehead. She touched it and said, “Are you sick, Heaton?”
However, his forehead was not warm. He had no fever.
Could it be due to a faulty neural connection?
The man pulled her tiny hand down. He said with a frown, “What’s the matter?”
Bluntly, Verian said, “I just feel like something’s off with you tonight. You’re different from usual.”
Despite that, she still absolutely adored his current romantic side.
The man’s brows frowned deeper. A flash of dissatisfaction could be seen from the corners of his eyes, but he swiftly hugged her and said, “You’ll soon get used to it and also come to love this side of me.”
Verian was speechless.
This man had to be possessed!
Verian pulled the covers over her head while blushing. She said, “I want to sleep now!”
As she slept, Verian suddenly pulled her covers aside and said, “No, we’ll be returning to North City tomorrow morning. I need to get up and pack my things.”
As she spoke, she wanted to get up but the man pushed her back down and said, “Don’t pack. I’ll help you pack tomorrow morning. Be a good girl and sleep now.”
Verian was a little surprised. Was it because she did not understand him enough? How was he so gentle and sweet now?
She hugged his waist while her tiny face nuzzled up against his embrace and said, “Heaton, you seemed to have transformed into a different person. However, I think… I like you even more now.”
The man gently patted her long hair. He then lowered his head to kiss the top of her head as a mysterious glimmer of light flashed across his dark eyes.
Verian seemed like a little joey, cuddling up against Heaton as she slept soundly that very night.
….
Just as Heaton had woken up the next morning, he had a splitting headache.
How was everything fine now and suddenly, he happened to get amnesia?
The moment he opened his eyes, Verian’s tiny face appeared in front of his eyes. The tiny woman was laying on the side of the bed, staring intently at him with a smile.
“You’re awake?”
Heaton replied with a simple ‘yeah’ as his head was in extreme pain.
Verian asked, “What’s wrong? Headache? You were completely fine though, how did you suddenly get a headache?”
“Not sure, maybe I’ve slept too long.”
Heaton rubbed against his temple with his long and slender fingers. When he stood up, Verian said, “I’ve made breakfast, so are we returning to North City after we’re done with it?”
“Yeah, are you done packing?”
Verian was a little puzzled. “Didn’t you tell me that you’d be packing for me this morning? Because of that, I didn’t pack…”
Heaton was speechless.
Heaton’s dark pearly eyes trembled for a moment, unable to react in that instance while stunned.
Verian assumed he had not meant what he said, so she turned around and started packing her things. She said, “Forget it. Last night, you were going on and on about babe this, and babe that. The moment you woke up this morning, your expression was completely cold. I think I’ll just pack my things myself and not depend on you.”
The frown on Heaton’s brows deepened. “Babe?”
“Yeah, you were calling me babe when you spoke last night, do you not remember?”
Heaton was speechless.
