At eight o'clock in the evening, men and women were being passionate in the promiscuous Cross Bar.
After Guin and Verian entered, they immediately ordered two glasses of Long Island iced tea.
Verian seldom visited bars, and she knew very little about this cocktail. "Guinnie, let's celebrate somewhere else. Let me treat you to crayfish?"
The colorful lights and noisy chatter in the bar pierced her eardrums.
Guin was playful. She yelled into Verian's ear, "Rainie, I've called my brother over. My biological brother! I'll introduce you guys later! He's also an artist!"
Guin had always wanted to introduce her elder brother, Leafy Bodd, to Verian. After all, goodies should only be kept within the family. One was her own brother, and the other was her best girlfriend. If they could be a couple, their relationship would be even closer!
As Guin thought about it happily, Leafy Bodd had already been walking toward them.
Guin waved at him. "Brother! This way!"
Leafy wore a black graffiti T-shirt. He dressed as a fashionable man who looked handsome and sunny. As he entered the bar, several young girls were captivated by him already.
Leafy walked over with a smile. He reached out and embraced Verian. "Verian, long time no see."
"Leafy, long time no see too."
Guin, who was standing beside them, widened her eyes in surprise. She pointed at Leafy and Verian. "You... You both have known each other for long?!"
Leafy and Verian smiled at each other. Then, Leafy explained, "You should've told me earlier that your good friend is Verian. When I was studying in Paris National School of Fine Arts, I got to know Verian. We're alumni."
Verian nodded. "Yeah, thanks for your brother’s care for me in Paris."
Guin stared at them evilly. "Oh...? Are you guys secretly together without me knowing?"
Verian blushed. "What are you talking about? We're just friends!"
However, Guin was not a fool. After Leafy signaled her with his eyes, she was quick-witted and immediately made room for them. Guin took a big gulp of the cocktail and clutched her stomach, acting as if she was in pain. "Verian, I think I’ve drunk too cold. My stomach hurts. You chat with my brother first. I need to go to the bathroom!"
"Shall I accompany you? Are you alright?"
Guin said that she was alright and swiftly left.
"Don't bother too much about her. She might have had a crush on a man on the dance floor." When Leafy turned his eyes to look at Verian, the cynicism in his eyes turned to seriousness. "Verian, you're not a loyal friend. You didn't even tell me when you returned home!"
Verian touched her neck and apologized, "I've just returned, and I've been busy. I wanted to contact you, but..."
"Okay, I'm not blaming you. Anyway, since you're back, if you've any problems that can't be solved, I hope I’ll be the first one who you call."
Verian bent her lips and cupped her fists together in front of her chest as a greeting gesture. "As you wish, Director Bodd!"
Getting to know Leafy was purely accidental. Leafy was uninhibited by nature. He was racing cars with gangsters on the streets in Paris and almost injured Verian. Later, the two were taken to the police station to give their testimonies. Sometime after the conflict, she realized that Leafy was in the same school as her, and he was actually her senior. They had known each other as a result of the conflict and were both from North City. Thus, as time went by, they became good friends. Leafy was a loyal man. During the three years in Paris, she was lucky to have his care. He helped her to deal with a lot of troubles.
Not far away, someone was staring at them—
"Verian Mont?"
Wanelle came to the bar with some of her girlfriends from her bachelorette party, but she did not expect to meet Verian here.
"You guys have fun first. I'll pay the bill tonight. I see a familiar friend, so I'll go and say hello first!"
Wanelle dumped her girlfriends and approached the bar. Unexpectedly, she encountered Verian dating another man at the bar.
