Donning a tight black leather jacket, Jane was dancing with the men around her on the crowded dance floor in the dazzling bar.
Some men attempted to take advantage of her but she pushed them back with a finger on their shoulders. Those men did not seem to be angry at all. Instead, they loved wild girls like her.
After three rounds of dancing, Jane was finally tired. Her anger subsided and she finally calmed down. She went back to the bar and ordered a mojito from the bartender.
Two sips of mojito later, Xyla came over sporting the latest Chanel’s handbag and sat down beside her.
Xyla was Heaton’s ex-girlfriend. She knew Jane. Both of them got along well together when Xyla and Heaton were still together. Therefore, they still kept in touch even after Heaton and Xyla broke up.
“Xyla, what would you like to drink?”
Xyla said to the bartender, “A glass of whiskey, please.”
Xyla laughed and said, “What’s wrong, little princess? Feeling down? Is that why you called me out to the bar for a heart to heart talk?”
Jane clenched her fist as Verian came to her mind. She bit her lips and said, “Xyla, do you know Verian, my brother’s current wife?”
Xyla was stunned. It seemed like Jane and Verian… were enemies now?
“Yes, I know her. What’s wrong? Did she… offend you?”
“I simply gave her a light push and now the baby in her tummy is in danger. My brother blamed me for that and even my dad is siding her. Everybody is siding her. Why?!”
Jane’s voice grew more agitated. Xyla’s eyes flashed with joy. “So, you called me out because of Verian?”
“Xyla, I really hate her. I hate her to death. Before she existed, my dad loved me the most although he was strict with me. But now… my dad assigned half of his properties to Verian. Xyla, can you please tell me why?”
Jane burst into tears as she threw herself into Xyla’s embrace. Xyla caressed her head and frowned. “Are you sure your dad is giving Verian half of his properties?”
No matter how much James liked Verian, they were not blood related. Why would James give half of his properties to someone who was not related to him?
Jane choked, “I don’t know why, but Verian and my dad clicked immediately as soon as they met. Judging by my dad’s gaze whenever he looks at her, I always feel that my dad is closer to her than his own biological daughter. Xyla, what have I done wrong? Why is dad treating me like this?”
Xyla comforted her, “You didn’t do anything wrong. Verian is not your father’s biological daughter. Why would she get half of your father’s properties?”
“Xyla, what should I do then? I cannot reconcile with him… I really despise Verian’s existence… because of her, my dad and my brother put the blame on me…”
A tinge of darkness flashed across her eyes. “We have to think about it carefully before we take action. You said that the baby in Verian’s tummy is in danger?”
“Yes. The doctor suggested them to get an abortion. I’m not sure if they will insist on keeping the child.”
“That means there might be a possibility that Verian will give birth to the child. Janny, it’s already confirmed that you are the one who harmed Verian and her child. You hate her so much. What if Heaton favors her more after she gives birth to the child? She will become even more arrogant in front of you. She’s living happily, to the point of easily getting her hands on your father’s properties. Why does she deserve that? Are you sure you can bear with this?”
Jane clenched her fists till her nails dug into her palms. She gritted her teeth and spoke in a hateful tone, “No, I will never let her live such an easy life.”
She was already living in hell. Why did Verian get to live on cloud nine and enjoy all the happiness?
“In that case, let’s go all the way then. Get rid of the baby in her tummy.”
Jane’s tear-filled eyes trembled. She seemed a bit panicky and terrified, but hatred quickly took over.
“But my brother won’t ever let me off if I do that.”
