Heaton got changed and was doing his tie in front of the mirror. “By the way, I have a dinner appointment to attend tonight. You don’t have to wait for me.”
“What… You have appointments tonight?”
The most Verian could do was complain. She could never throw a tantrum in front of Heaton. She would not want to do that to Heaton anyways.
After all, attending dinner with clients was one of Heaton’s job routine. Being his wife, she should support her husband’s career instead of blaming him for not spending enough time with her like a childish kid.
Verian looked at Heaton expectantly and asked, “In that case...can you come home earlier tonight?”
Heaton stopped tying his tie for a moment. Then, he hummed.
A simple hum from her husband was enough to send Verian to cloud nine.
“Don’t eat instant noodles for dinner again,” Heaton reminded.
“Alright.”
Heaton remained silent after hearing her sincere answer.
Heaton was preparing to leave but turned back as he still felt uneasy. He went back and took away all the instant noodles in their cupboard.
Kush saw Heaton carrying the bag of instant noodles when he arrived at the company. He asked curiously, “Boss, do you enjoy eating instant noodles?”
He had been working with Heaton for so many years, but he had never seen Heaton eating such unhealthy food. Hence, it was weird to see Heaton carrying such a big bag of instant noodles.
Heaton tossed the bag of instant noodles to him and said in a faint voice, “Give it away to whoever who wants it.”
“What?”
Who would want such a big bag of instant noodles?
...
In the afternoon, Verian opened the cupboard and realized all of the instant noodles were missing. Not even one was left.
She searched the cupboard thoroughly but could not find even one cup of noodles.
That was weird, did she finish the last cup yesterday? She remembered seeing a few cups of noodles in the cupboard.
She had no idea what to eat for lunch. She rolled around on her couch for some time. In the end, she decided to send Serene a message.
“Are you working today?”
Serene replied, “No, today’s my rest day and I just woke up. I’m heading out for lunch soon, have you eaten yet?”
“Not yet. Let’s eat together.”
...
Verian and Serene went straight to a noodle restaurant when they arrived at the food street. They each ordered a bowl of braised beef noodle.
That restaurant’s braised beef noodle tasted very good. Back then, Verian often visited that restaurant.
Serene asked as she ate, “How are you and Heaton doing?”
“It’s hard to explain, I have a feeling he’s playing cat and mouse with me these days,” answered Verian.
Serene guessed, “Is it because he’s too tired of entertaining clients lately?”
“That might be one of the reasons, but I somehow feel insecure about this. Serene, do you think that he doesn’t find me attractive anymore?”
Verian was not a love expert, neither was Serene. Both of them sounded like primary school students discussing relationships. It was impossible they would come up with an accurate conclusion.
Serene glanced at Verian’s chest and said, “Attractive… Does Heaton like bustier girls?”
Verian was left speechless.
Verian choked on her noodles. She coughed as her face flushed red.
Serene quickly passed her a piece of tissue. “Are you alright?”
Verian answered as she laughed, “Can you not be so straightforward?”
Serene thought about it some time and spoke, “Most guys like busty girls with a slender waist and long legs, but will a guy like Heaton have such general taste?”
After having their hunger fixed, they went shopping arms in arms.
Serene paused as they walked past a famous lingerie shop on the second floor. She glanced at Verian and looked at her with a cunning gaze.
