Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 317

When Serene received Verian’s call, she had just got off work from the hospital.

“Hey, Verian.”

Verian’s voice sounded soft through the phone, “Are you free now, Serene?”

“I am, just got off work from the hospital. What’s the matter? Did you cry?”

“No, I’m in a bad mood. Can you come and keep me company?”

After twenty minutes, when Serene arrived at Central Park, she noticed Verian was sitting on a bench. She had a blank gaze and she seemed lifeless.

“Verian?”

Serene rushed over to her side and asked, “What’s the matter? Why aren’t you suddenly in a bad mood? Did you have a fight with Heaton? I’ll call him and have him come over…”

Verian stopped her immediately when she heard Serene was about to call Heaton. She said, “Don’t, I’m fine. I didn’t fight with him.”

“Then, what’s wrong with you?”

Verian forced a smile and lied, “I...I thought about the child I lost from my abortion lately. I feel a little sad.”

Serene comforted her, “Don’t be sad, you’ll have more children with Heaton in future.”

Verian nodded and said, “Yeah, but I still feel awful right now. I want to drink.”

Serene’s eyes lit up when she heard the word, ‘drink’. She said, “Alright, my parents forbade me from going to bars ever since I was a child. I need to experience places like the bar! It’s only just for drinking, right? I will drink to oblivion with you!”

Shallow Bar.

Verian and Serene picked a simple bar.

The environment in the bar was quiet and the designs were artistic.

After Verian and Serene got seated by the windows, the waiter handed them a drinks menu.

“What do you pretty ladies want to drink?”

Verian remembered there was a beverage called the ‘Long Island’ in bars and it tasted not bad. It was slightly strong but she wished to get herself drunk. It would be best if she could numb all of her nerves.

“Do you have Long Island?”

“We do, one Long Island for you, right?”

“Yeah.”

Serene scanned through the menu and smiled at the waiter before saying,”I would like a Californian Lemonade.”

“Alright, please wait for your drinks to be served.”

After both the Long Island and the Californian Lemonade were served, Serene and Verian bumped their glasses.

Although Verian’s alcohol tolerance was quite low, Serene’s was even worse.

Serene collapsed on the table in her drunken dazed after only having two cocktails. She was chuckling maniacally.

Verian’s consciousness was also starting to blur. Perhaps, one would get drunk easier when depressed or perhaps it was due to her strong urge to get drunk in her subconscious mind. So, her head felt heavy and dizzy before also collapsing on the table with Serene.

The atmosphere in Clear Bar was quiet and it was suitable for people to have a conversation and relax. The heater was comforting and under such a setting, one would find it easy to fall asleep.

Verian nuzzled her tiny arms with her face. She let out a bitter laugh and mumbled, “Serene, do you know… I’m really sad…”

“Huh? Why’re you sad?”

Her warm tears began to gradually fall from the corner of her eyes as she said, “I never once expected that I’m actually James Fudd’s daughter… How can I face Heaton in future?’

Serene was in a confused state as she said, “Huh? What did you say… Verian?”

Verian did not continue to speak. It was unsure if she had not heard Serene’s question or was it because she did not wish to elaborate. She picked up the alcohol from the table and chugged down half a bottle. She slumped over on the table with her face flustered. She had shed a lot of tears.

Serene clapped while still giggling maniacally as she praised, “Verian, you sure can drink!”

In a nearby bar counter from Clear Bar.
