It was morning in the Fudd mansion.
When Verian was done washing up, she ran downstairs, wanting to get even with Heaton. Nancy was already packing up, getting ready to leave the Fudd family.
She did not expect Nancy to leave so soon.
Madam Leah was still preparing breakfast but Heaton was nowhere to be seen. Seeing her packing up alone, Verian said, “Let me help you.”
Before she managed to lay her hands on her luggage, Nancy pushed her hand away.
“Stop pretending to be nice!”
Verian frowned. She always knew that Nancy disliked her, but she never thought that Nancy would be so tetchy early in the morning.
“You can tell me nicely if you don’t need my help. Why are you yelling at me?”
She almost hit the table if she did not manage to balance herself when Nancy pushed her. It was not a big deal for her, but she had a baby in her tummy right now. She felt pissed off being pushed away like that.
Nancy flung the stuff in her hands angrily and stared at Verian coldly. “Verian Mont, if you didn’t egg Heaton on all this while, I wouldn’t have to leave the Fudd family. Stop acting in front of me! You know what I hate the most about you? You’re always acting! You want him so badly yet you act innocent all the time. You always pretend like you know nothing. Do you think I’m Heaton? Do you think you can fool me like how you fooled Heaton? You know what, I’ve seen your true colors since a long time ago!”
Verian became speechless after being told off at the peep of the day.
“I don’t want to argue with you.”
Heaton, who went to walk the dog with Little Jelly Bean, just came in from the yard. He saw Verian and Nancy quarrelling through the French window.
Heaton handed the dog lead to Little Jelly Bean and said, “Take this.”
Little Jelly Bean nodded her head and spoke to Little Lion who was running around excitedly, “Stop running. Let’s go and get some food for you.”
Little Jelly Bean went into the dog house in the yard while Heaton strode into the house.
The man walked toward Verian and habitually put his arms around her waist. He lowered his head and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Verian could not be bothered to tell him what happened and merely said, “Nothing. I’m going to have breakfast.”
She brushed away Heaton’s hand and sat down on the chair to eat her breakfast. Heaton washed his hands and sat next to her at the table.
Nancy was done packing her luggage. Without saying a word, she walked out of the house with her suitcase.
Verian munched on her toast. She took a few side glances and saw Nancy’s car leaving the yard. It was only then that she started to speak.
“She was acting all grumpy early in the morning. I offered to help her out when I saw her packing her luggage alone but she pushed me away. She even scolded me just now.”
Heaton looked at her infuriated face and tried to divert her attention by letting out a faint laugh.
Verian stuffed her breakfast into her mouth gloomily.
Madam Leah brought Little Jelly Bean to wash her hands after she came in from the yard. The little munchkin ran toward the table, eager to eat her breakfast.
“Daddy, Monty, today is a Saturday. Can we go to the zoo?”
Heaton ruffled the little munchkin’s hair and said, “Sure.”
Recently, Verian constantly felt sleepy due to her pregnancy. Her physical strength declined a lot as well. She really wanted to accompany Little Jelly Bean to the zoo, but…
“Why don't you go with Little Jelly Bean? I’ve been feeling very tired recently.”
These days because spring had arrived, she felt even more tired.
