Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 456

Serene could not reach Wilson for days on end after they returned to North City.

Serene was constantly watched by her mother. Even when she was using her phone sometimes, her mother would take a glance at her screen. She made it seem like an accident but her mother was actually trying to get in the way of her relationship with Wilson.

She had no chance to contact Wilson and Wilson was also ‘playing along’ by not contacting her. After a long period of time, Serene felt insecure and would even start to overthink. She even assumed that Wilson had broken up with her.

When Serene returned home from work at her hospital on Friday, her mother had made some delicious food.

“Hurry up and wash your hands. Let’s eat. I have something to tell you later.”

“What are you going to tell me about, mom? Why are you so happy?”

“We’ll talk later when we eat.”

When they ate, Serene’s mother kept bringing food to her. After giving her a lot of ribs, she said, “You should eat more. Just look at you, you keep working overtime and look at how skinny you’ve grown. You don’t look as good anymore.”

Although she was skinnier, she still had some baby fat on her cheeks so how could she have not looked as good anymore? She replied, “Mom, what exactly do you want to tell me?”

“You know how I’ve been attending that little dance group at the park? I made a few friends and one of them told me that her son had just recently returned from overseas. Overseas, I’ll have you know! What’s even more coincidental was, just like you, he’s a doctor! He’s five years older than you and his mother told me that he’s very good at taking care of people.”

Serene’s face collapsed when she heard that. She argued, “Mom, why are you trying to matchmake me again?”

Suddenly, the delicious scent of food did not smell so good anymore.

“Just, you know, meet up with him. Make a new friend. Come on, it’s not like you both absolutely have to date anyway. I already agreed to the meeting. It’ll be on Saturday, which is tomorrow. You get to go outside and take a walk you know. You can’t just stay indoors and watch T.V. all day now.”

Serene placed her bowl down and argued with a frown, “Mom, I don’t want to go.”

Besides, Serene already had a boyfriend anyway and not to mention, Wilson was now already a free man. Why could they not just be together?

“Listen to me child, he has amazing qualities and even if you went, he might not even like you.”

Serene pouted her lips and furiously said, “I don’t even want him to like me.”

“Oh, you little brat. I don’t care, you have to come tomorrow. Standing people up is wrong. I’ll send you the address later.”

Serene’s resistance was to no avail so she sighed and randomly ate a few bites before she stopped eating. She dared not to overreact since she was worried it might agitate her mother which would cause her blood pressure to rise.

Serene felt helpless at this moment and she had no clue who she should look for to vent so, she sent a text to Verian.

Verian had just finished her meal. Little Jelly Bean was holding onto her phone while Verian sliced up some apples. After receiving Serene’s text message, Little Jelly Bean handed her phone over with both arms while speaking in a childish voice, “Monty, Aunty Serene just sent you a text.”

Verian patted the little rascal’s little head before saying, “Let me have a look.”

Serene said her mother was matchmaking for her again. However, she was already dating Wilson. However, due to Wilson’s divorce, her family was persistent in refusing to allow them to date one another.

Verian had no idea how to help her as well so she let out a gentle sigh.

Little Jelly Bean was blinking her huge eyes as she asked, “Monty, why are you sighing? What’s wrong with Aunty Serene?”

“Nothing, she’s having relationship problems.”

“Hmph, I also had a fight with that meanie Tyler recently.” Little Jelly Bean replied while pouting her lips.

Verian felt interested so she asked with a subtle smile, “What happened between you and Tyler?”

“How should I know? I brought some teddy bear cookies to school today since Jacob likes teddy bear cookies too. So, I shared some with him but Tyler kept pulling my braids. I got mad and I told him to stop but he just wouldn’t listen to me.”

While Verian listened to the little rascal’s complaints, she almost burst out laughing. She then reached out to pat her adorable little face and said, “Tyler got mad because you shared some teddy bear cookies with Jacob. This meant, Tyler only got mad at you because you like Jacob.”

Little Jelly Bean frowned while she stared at Verian with her teary eyes. She said, “But I just love playing with Jacob. Tyler only knows how to annoy me.”

While Verian stared at her daughter’s innocent and naive face, she reached out to gently poke her nose and said, “Oh, Jelly Bean, you’re still young. You’d understand when you’re older.”

Little Jelly Bean pouted her lips while she lamented, “Hmph! I don’t like playing with Tyler anyway. It’s fine if he ignores me since I don’t want to interact with him anyway!”

Verian thought in her heart that although Little Jelly Bean said that she did not want to interact with Tyler, she kept bringing him up anyway.
