Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 483

Helen lay on the bed, tossing and turning. Her whole being felt uncomfortable. Hence, she got out of bed, wearing her slippers to walk to the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Carter was in his white shirt and black trousers. He did not have time to change into his home clothes. The sleeves of his white shirt were folded up, and he was holding a kitchen knife, skillfully cutting tomatoes.

Water was being boiled in the pot, and the man skillfully put in the noodles. The hot steam from the pot made the man frown slightly. However, he was still very patient.

Helen walked over and hugged his waist from behind.

Carter was stunned for a while. He held her little hand with his own, turning his eyes sideways to ask, "Why did you wake up? Do you feel very uncomfortable? Shall we go to the hospital?"

Helen shook her head and pressed her little face against his broad back. As she had cried all afternoon, her voice was hoarse. "Your father doesn't like me but I can understand why. After all, when compared to your wealthy family, my background is really poor. Carter, why did you have to be born to such a rich and powerful family? I just wanted to have a simple and peaceful life with you. When I found out who you really are, I began to hesitate and feel uncertain."

Carter turned around and pulled her into his arms. He stared at her with his scorching black eyes. "What did my dad say to you?"

"He didn't say much. He just offered to give me thirty million bucks and asked me to leave you."

Carter's dark eyes sank. An anger grew from the bottom of his heart. "If he dares to say such words to you again, you need to quickly tell me."

Helen pursed her red lips and deliberately said, "His proposal was pretty good... I was kind of interested."

"You dare?"

The man stared at her with such ferocity.

Helen snorted lightly and looked up at him with her little face. "Why wouldn’t I? Thirty million... I've never seen so much money in my life. I can totally take the thirty million and find another man."

Jokingly, Carter commented, "Mrs. Gale, you don't have a good business brain."

"What do you mean by that?"

"If you stay and never leave me, the whole Gale Group and I would be yours. These things are definitely worth more than thirty million bucks."

Helen pouted her small face. "The Gale Group belongs to your family. What does it have to do with me?"

Carter embraced her slim body to face him. He lowered his head and rested it on her neck. Staring at her fair, tender face, he said, "What's mine is yours."

"However, I might not be able to adapt to your world. I'm not the same as Rainie. I don't have much life experience in life, and I don't know much about how to socialize in high society. However, you require an elegant Mrs. Gale, not a woman like me who just has an ordinary job. I'm just an extremely plain woman."

Most importantly, Helen's family was just a simple one with a modest background. As compared to an illustrious family like the Gale’s, the living environment and education they received since young were totally different. Their families were too different, proving that they were from vastly different worlds.

Carter looked at his distressed little wife in his arms. He smiled faintly and said, "I don't need to marry someone to form a marriage alliance. The wife I want to marry is someone I like. You don't have to purposely change yourself to fit into my world. If someone makes you unhappy, I'll deal with him or her."

Helen turned her head slightly to look at the man's handsome face. She asked softly, "Carter, are we really compatible with each other?"

"Are we compatible? You've been with me for three years. During these three years, how have we been unsuitable for each other? Whether in bed or under it? Hm?"

"... I'm talking about serious matters with you!"

This man... He really was... At the last second, he had been talking about serious matters. However, he started to behave like a gangster immediately afterward.

The noodles were boiling in the water, so Carter put the tomatoes and beat an egg in. After a short while, a bowl of tomato egg soup noodles that smelt really good was served.

Carter brought it to the living room and handed a pair of chopsticks to Helen. "Eat quickly."

Helen's night had been a mess, so she was indeed quite hungry. However, her appetite was not very good because she was sick. Even if Carter's cooking skills were good, she only ate half the food and leaned against Carter's shoulder. "Hubby, I can't eat anymore."

Carter lowered his eyes to look at her. "Are you feeling better?"

Helen buried herself deeper in his arms and said coquettishly, "I still feel a little bit uncomfortable."

"Let me hug you."

Carter hugged her to the bedroom. As he carried her to bed, there came a knock at the door.

"It's so late. Who is it?"

Carter helped put the blanket over her. "I'll go and check."

After Carter opened the door, he saw the residential care manager standing at the door with a security guard.

"Sorry to disturb you at this hour. Just now, a resident reported seeing a thief climbing up here from the window. Have you seen any other movements here?"
