Downstairs in the small garden, Tyler played with a toy car in the yard. The car stopped suddenly beside Tina's high heels.
Tina crouched down and picked up the small toy car. Tyler looked up at her with his small head raised in an unfriendly manner. He stretched out his hand and said, "Give it back to me!"
Tina smiled. "I might be your mother in the future. Is it really good to treat me so ferociously?"
'Pooh!' Tyler could not help but express the disdain in his heart. "My mommy is alive and well. I don't need you to be my mother. You didn't give birth to me."
Tina passed the small toy car to him and reached out to caress his small head. She was not angry and said in an especially forgiving tone, "You'll understand in the future."
"Hmph, you'll never be my stepmother! My dad won't be interested in a woman like you!"
Tina fiddling with a long piece of hair that had fallen from behind her ear. She then smiled faintly and said, "Oh? How do you know that your daddy won't be interested in a woman like me?"
This wimpy kid seemed to know a lot.
"Firstly, you're definitely not a good person at first glance. Secondly, you don't look as pretty as my mommy!"
Tina could accept his first reason, but she could not agree with his second. "Why am I not as pretty as your mommy?"
No matter if it was due to her fashion sense or delicate makeup, she totally had better style than Helen.
With whats reasons could Helen stand beside Carter? They looked as if they were from two different worlds!
Tyler pursed his little mouth. Strongly disapproving her, he said, "If you really have the guts, remove all your makeup and compare yourself with my mommy. Your face is caked with powder. How dare you say my mommy is not good-looking. My mommy is a natural beauty!"
"You!"
Tina was badly annoyed. She narrowed her eyes and snorted coldly. "Wimpy kid, when I join the Gale family, I'll make you suffer!"
Tyler wagged his head—he was not worried at all. "You have to be able to join the Gale family first. My daddy won't abandon my mommy!"
"We’ll see about that!"
Softly, Tyler uttered a sentence. "So childish! She haggles over trifling things with a child."
"..."
...
Upstairs in the bedroom, Helen was getting used to her brand new environment. She felt very unaccustomed and held her familiar pillow while sitting by the bed, examining the bedroom.
Was this the room Carter had slept in since he was young?
The room was painted with single tone colors like black, gray, and white. It made it feel a bit cold. Even the bedsheets were a linen gray, looking icy and inhuman.
There was a photo frame on the bedside table with a picture of a man and woman who were deeply in love.
Helen's eyes trembled. The man in the picture was Carter, while the woman… She was Ms. Lane, whom she had seen just now.
In the photo, Carter was far from the mature and reserved person he was now. Although he was not being intimate with Tina, she could see that Carter liked her very much.
Helen's heart hammered in her chest. She felt her pain and sorrow.
Carter came out of the bathroom, wiping his hair with a dry towel. He saw her unhappy look and frowned slightly. "Why are you unhappy? Is it too hard to adapt to the change?"
He walked over and realized that Helen was looking at the photo in her hands. He went blank for a while and immediately took away the photo frame with his big hand before throwning it into a nearby trash can.
Helen asked him, "... Why are you throwing the photo away?"
Unconsciously, Helen got up and went to the trash can to retrieve it for him. However, her wrist was pulled back by Carter.
The man held her and said, "It's something meaningless. Why would I keep it?"
Helen glared at him. "Then why was it kept in your bedroom? I think you say one thing and mean another!"
Carter's eyes became extremely cute and innocent. "Mrs. Gale, don't wrongly accuse me. I came back to the Gale family mansion for just a few days. The old men in the group have been giving me a headache and Mrs. Gale’s quarreling with me. Where on earth do I have the time to care about this? I usually come back from the group and am still busily doing work. I seldom stayed in this room over the past three years. The room arrangement was still as it was in the past. I was careless when I forgot to throw this away."
If he remembered, he would have thrown it into the trash can. Then there would not have been any chance for her to question him unless he was ready to sacrifice all that he had asking for his wife's forgiveness.
Helen pouted her little face. "So, you're blaming me instead?"
He was blaming her for not listening to him and being insensible.
Carter smiled faintly and leaned over to hold her tightly. "I don't dare. Mrs. Gale, let's make an agreement."
