Serene was desperately holding back her tears before walking toward Wilson’s bed as she said, “The doctors said your stomach has hemorrhaged but you passed out this morning. I actually thought… Wilson, you actually scared me to death…”
Wilson pouted his pale lips as he said with a calm smile, “But you’re a doctor and you should’ve gotten used to situations like these already, so how could you still be terrified?”
It was true that as a doctor, Serene had seen plenty of weak patients. However, the person who had passed out was not just a random stranger. That person was Wilson so how could she not worry. When she was sitting outside the emergency room earlier, her entire body felt numb while both her hands were shaking uncontrollably.
“How could that be the same? You’re the one who passed out so obviously I’d be worried…”
Wilson raised his hand to wipe her tears as he comforted, “Hush now. I’m fine now, aren’t I”
Serene still had not calmed down yet because when Wilson passed out this morning, his condition appeared even more serious than just a regular stomach hemorrhage. She spoke in a nervous tone, “Are you feeling any discomfort from anywhere else in your body? If you do, you have to let me know, okay?”
“Alright.”
Heaton let out a light cough to interrupt them.
It was only then did Wilson finally notice Heaton and Verian. He asked, “What are you guys doing here?”
Serene replied, “I called Verian because your procedure requires a signature from your family. However… I don’t know your family so I wanted to ask Verian if President Fudd knew anyone from your family or not.”
Heaton said, “Since you’re fine then Riana and I will be leaving now. Another stomach hemorrhage patient is still awaiting our visit.”
Serene raised her brows as she said, “What’s wrong with these two days? Is getting a stomach hemorrhage a trend now?”
Verian sighed and said, “People are not eating right these days and would often have hotpot and take out. People enjoy drinking too so they’re more prone to getting stomach related ailments. Take care of Dr. Jarret okay, Serene? Heaton and I will be leaving now. Just call us anytime if anything happens.”
Serene nodded and said, “Alright. Drive safe now.”
After both Heaton and Verian exited the ward, Serene instinctively asked, “You haven’t eaten anything since last night. Are you hungry?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh, the doctor hasn't allowed you to eat anything yet. I’ll ask the doctor when you can start eating later.”
“Okay.”
After Serene was done speaking, Serene noticed that Wilson had been staring at her face all this time so she instinctively touched her face and asked, “What are you staring at me for?”
“I was thinking, when can our names appear together on the same document?”
Serene was speechless.
Serene blushed as she bashfully lowered her gaze while holding back her joy as she stuttered, “Well… my parents still haven’t agreed to us being together. However… after you’re discharged and you get better, we’ll discuss this again.”
Not to mention, he should show more sincerity if he was proposing to her. Women had to show a little more restraint and they only could agree to their man’s proposal after their man showed up with a diamond ring and flowers.
Wilson’s gaze dimmed as he stared at her lowered head.
If he had the chance, he really wanted to spend the rest of his life with his woman.
However, since he would be unable to spend a lifetime with her, should he not have let go of her sooner rather than later?
“Babe?”
“Huh?”
The moment Serene looked up, the man squeezed her chin with his cold fingers as that handsome face was magnified in front of her before two pairs of lips were pressed against each other… That kiss was sudden and it made Serene feel helpless.
