Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 543

After Verian hung up the call, she handed Little Pickle to the babysitter back at the Shallow Bay Mansion.

That babysitter happened to be Madam Leah’s old friend. She was reliable and loyal and after Madam Leah had returned to the Fudd family home, Aunt Heidy was the one who helped Verian take care of her children.

On a usual day, Heaton would go to work in Fudd Group and Little Jelly Bean would be in school. If Verian had to head out, Aunt Heidy would help Verian take care of Little Pickle.

Since Verian was worried about Serene, she did not call a cab and instead, drove one of the cars in the garage to Serene’s apartment.

Due to her previous pregnancy, Heaton controlled her and would not allow her to drive. Since she had not driven for quite some time, her driving skills had become rusty.

Upon arriving at Serene’s apartment and the instant she opened the door, Verian could see how swollen and red Serene’s eyes were.

“Serene…”

“Verian…”

Serene sobbed as she hugged Verian. She was complaining as she broke down, “Wilson is a b*stard. He pursued me and toyed with my feelings. Did he think that was entertaining or amusing for him to do that?”

Verian led Serene into the living room while holding onto Serene’s arm. She walked by the couch, took a couple pieces of tissues and wiped Serene’s tears as she said, “I’m glad you’re okay. While I was driving here, I was worried that you might act rashly.”

Serene took the tissues and blew her nose hard before grabbing some instant noodles that were already cooked from the coffee table, as she asked, “Oh, that’s right, have you eaten yet?”

Verian could not help but laugh as she said, “Judging from how you’re still able to remember to eat something, you’re not as sad as I’d imagine then.”

Serene scoffed gently as she slurped her instant noodles down while saying some self-comforting statements, “Don’t you know that no matter how much pain an adult had gone through, they would still slurp instant noodles while crying? This is in addition to remembering to add an egg to their noodles. Not only did I add eggs to my noodles, I also added ham. Therefore, even if it’s a breakup, I can’t starve myself for that b*stard Wilson now, right?”

Verian nodded in agreement as she said, “Well said. However… Why so sudden though? I thought you and Dr. Jarret were getting along quite well back then? Wasn’t he extremely persistent in staying by your side despite your parents constant disapproval? How could he change his mind so suddenly?”

After crying her lungs out and after Serene vented her sadness, she seemed a lot calmer. After some serious thought, the whole ordeal felt off to her.

“Say, Verian… do you think he’s like the male leads from the novels I read and he has some untreatable ailments hence his sudden breakup with me?”

Verian was speechless.

Serene pouted her lips as she lamented, “However, the doctors said he’s only having a minor hemorrhage in his stomach. That isn’t life threatening though. What reason does he have to break up with me anyway.”

Verian recalled their trip to Italy and Wilson had sustained a bullet wound. That man was obviously hiding more than he let on. He did not seem to just be a simple doctor.

“Serene, do you roughly know what kind of job Wilson was doing? I just feel that Wilson’s job might be extremely dangerous.”

Serene nodded as she explained, “I’ve asked him about it previously but he’s always so tight-lipped about it. However, I feel like he’s not exactly a good person. This is because a man who handles guns so often… wouldn’t be a good person, right?”

Verian laughed as she said, “Since you feel like he isn’t a good person then why’d you date him in the first place?”

Serene’s gaze dimmed as she slightly lowered her gaze to stare at her extremely mouthwatering instant noodles. She suddenly lost her appetite to eat.

“I want to leave that dangerous man behind as far away as possible but I just can’t help myself from staying by his side. What can I do anyway?”

Verian reached out to pat her shoulder as she asked, “Then, what are you planning to do? Honestly speaking, Serene, you were able to so cleanly sever ties with Chainer after he cheated on you, sure… However, what about Wilson? Will you be able to do the same?”

Serene stared at Verian with a serious gaze before saying, “I wanted to lie and tell you that I can. However, I am well aware of how different both Wilson and Chainer stood in my heart. Wilson taught me what true love is and what persistence meant in a relationship. Perhaps he knew… that the both of us are very different people. Even if I know how dangerous of a man he is, I can’t help myself from thinking about him.”

“What are you planning then? Will you still look for him even after he has broken up with you?”

Serene gently shook her head and said, “I don’t know. Verian. Have you ever broken up with Heaton before?”

Verian smiled as she replied, “Of course we have. Not only have we broken up a couple of times before, but we nearly divorced too.”

“But Heaton still came looking for you after that, right?”
