Serene wrapped her arms around Wilson's neck. She appeared taller than the man as her legs encircled his waist.
The woman furrowed her brows and glared at him. "Why didn't you approach me earlier if you already knew who I am?"
If he had approached her earlier, she would have chosen a handsome and loyal guy like him instead of wasting three years of her youth with a guy like Chainer.
Serene recalled her school days and thought about how she had been such a fool.
Chainer never cared about her, but she always threw herself at him. Her last bit of fondness toward Chainer was all but gone after he tried to defame Wilson.
Wilson carried her and put her on top of the kitchen counter. He supported himself with both hands pressed against the kitchen counter. "I've thought about approaching you earlier, but my identity and my job were too unusual. Furthermore, you were too young back then, too. I was afraid that I would scare you away."
Serene asked, "Aren't you afraid that I would leave with another man?"
"With who? A bastard like Chainer?"
Serene's eyes twitched. "Well, what if that was the case?"
"Then, I'll break your leg and lock you up so that I'll be the only guy in your world until you fall in love with me."
It was a joke, but Serene blushed. Her eyes sparkled as she cupped the man's face and pressed a kiss on his lips.
"Wilson Jarret, thank you for loving me."
He must have been very lonely for the past ten years.
He had looked after her secretly when they were only strangers; of course, he would feel lonely.
Before she graduated from university, he had many plans to enter her life, so he would not scare her away. He wanted her to feel comfortable around him.
He also thought about barging into her life.
He thought to claim her right away. She might resist, complain, or even hate him at first, but if he doted and cared for her, it was just a matter of time before she would fall in love with him.
Wilson was confident about it, but he dared not take the risk.
It was the fastest way to get her, but it would hurt her at the same time, too. He would rather let her take her time to get used to him and rely on him.
…
They finished dinner, and Serene laid on the bed after she got out of the shower. As she counted with her fingers, Serene's heart swelled with pride.
"Wilson, you had been secretly in love with me for ten years! You're the first person to have a secret crush on me! I can't believe I have a fanboy!"
Wilson glanced at her, "Who are you calling your fanboy? I'm your man."
He carried her and put her down on his lap.
He took the hairdryer to dry her hair. He rubbed her hair with his huge hands and messed her hair up; it made her look like a maniac.
"I don't need your help. Look at my hair; it's a mess now".
"Do it yourself then; I don't know how to do it."
Wilson handed her the hairdryer. Serene grabbed her hairbrush and comb as she dried her hair with the hairdryer.
Serene sprawled on the bed and looked at the wedding invitation in her hands. She asked Wilson, "Chainer and Gwen's wedding is this weekend. Shall we attend their wedding?"
Wilson laid down on the bed as well before he pulled the girl into his arms. He sniffed the fragrance of her tresses. "You don't want to go?"
"It's not like I don't want to go, but I don't feel like going. I'm fine with it either way, but since Gwen is your cousin, I thought we should at least show up."
Wilson stared straight into her eyes. "Chainer is your ex-boyfriend, after all. Won't you feel sad?"
It was evident that it was a test.
Serene looked at him as if she caught him doing something wrong. "Wilson, are you jealous?"
"I'm not." The man pouted.
"Yes, you are."
Serene jumped on him.
The corner of Wilson's lips twitched. That girl was really bold.
"Serene, get down."
Serene did not sense the man's dark gaze. "I don't want to get down."
Wilson was speechless.
Wilson held the back of her head, turned her over, and trapped her beneath his body. He said huskily, "Do you know that you'll be heavily punished if you keep doing that?"
The girl cupped her crimson red face after she came back to her senses.
However, the man had already pulled her hand away. She had no choice but to stare at the man on top of her. Once again, the man said, "Yes, I am jealous. So I'm asking you right now if you care about Chainer getting married; if you're not going to answer me properly, I can't be held responsible for what happens next."
Serene's lips twitched, and she mumbled, "You don't look like you want me to speak the truth; you're trying to torture a confession out of me."
"I only want to hear what I want to hear."
Serene did not know where she got the courage, but she pushed Wilson forcefully and trapped him under her instead.
Serene was on top of him again. She looked at him and solemnly said, "I was a bit sad when I first broke up with Chainer. After all, I chased after him for three years. However, I realized afterward that I didn't really like him at all. I can't seem to open up to him. Even though he asked me to get intimate with him, I never gave in to his requests."
Wilson let her sit on top of him. A dark gaze flashed in his eyes when he heard that...
"Why did you allow me to get intimate with you then?"
