Wilson chased Stephen to the back of Dark Cabinet, against a cliff.
"Stop running. You have nowhere else to escape; we've reported your evil doings to the president. Your power will soon be dissolved. You've killed so many people, and yet you have not one ounce of conscience!"
Stephen stood by the cliff. He laughed. "I don't need the younger generation to teach me about repentance! If I failed, I failed only myself, not any of you. Aret, one day, you'll understand the greatness that I've tried to achieve."
Greatness? If it was great to kill innocent people, then why would they need to defend justice?
Wilson aimed his weapon at Stephen and said, "Give up, Godfather."
Stephen smiled. "You have not called me Godfather in a very long time."
"This is the last time, as a thank you for not killing me all those years ago. If you did, I wouldn't be here today. Since I'm alive, I have an obligation to avenge my parents and Serene."
Stephen fished a vial from this pocket and held it over the cliff. He said, "This is the antidote that can save Serene."
Wilson's eyes darkened. "Name your price. What do you want?"
If he could get his hands on the antidote, he would be willing to do anything for it.
"I want you to work for me. To do my bidding."
"Stephen! You know that's impossible!"
Stephen looked at the vial of antidote and sighed. "So there is no real love in this world after all. You said that you're willing to do anything for Serene, and yet you would not work for me."
Wilson laughed cold-heartedly. "You think that everyone is as selfish as you? Stephen, you've killed so many people, and yet you dare talk about love? Why don't you just die already!"
Stephen took one step closer to the cliff. "Aret, I can do as you wish. I'll jump with this antidote!"
"Stephen Mountain!"
Stephen jumped into the deep trench below them.
Wilson was about to follow suit when Ruby stopped him.
"Are you crazy? You'll die if you jump!"
Wilson's eyes were red. He said in despair, "That was the only antidote for Serene!"
He punched the ground, and fresh blood oozed from his fist.
Heaton took one look at the trench and said, "Stephen is a perceptive man. Furthermore, he has kept a low profile while he made his plans all these years. I don't believe that he's dead. We'll have to send some men to search for his body."
Ruby agreed. "I concur. Stephen is a man of plans; I don't believe he's dead as well. Furthermore, Serene's antidote is with him. We'll send some men to search for it."
…
Back at Mount Hope Mansion.
Ruby stopped Frost Blade and Old K at the entrance.
"You are not citizens of Z country. Now that our partnership has temporarily ceased, you can't enter our private territory."
