Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 618

Serene cried for an entire day. Her eyes were red and puffy. Then, she finally fell asleep in Wilson's arms.

Heaton arrived at Wilson's mansion in the evening.

The two men stood at the balcony. Wilson was extremely irritable—he took a pack of cigarettes from his pocket.

"You smoke?"

Heaton took a cigarette from him and laughed. "I thought you've stopped smoking? When did you start again?"

Wilson did not have an addiction to cigarettes, and he rarely smoked. However, he felt a strong urge to smoke.

"I'm in a bad mood."

Wilson lit a match. Heaton leaned toward him to light his cigarette as well. The two men smoked in silence.

"What happened? Did you have a fight with Serene?"

"Nope, if it were a fight, I would not have been in such a bad mood."

Wilson did not explain further, nor did Heaton questioned. After all, it was a private matter between the couple. Even close friends should not ask each other about their personal lives. Men would not want to disclose too much about their problems. That was the difference between men and women.

Wilson looked at Heaton and asked, "When are you planning to go back?"

"I came here to bid you farewell. The person at home is waiting impatiently, so I'll have to head home soon. Plus, I don't think you'll need my help in the Stephen Mountain matter."

Wilson smiled. "Oh, we do. But would you stay?"

Heaton looked at him playfully as he took a puff and looked at the beautiful sunset. He said, "My main duty now is not to save the world. Even if I don't save the world, there are thousands of brave people like you who would do it. I still have to look after three people at home, so I can't put myself in danger."

Wilson punched him jokingly. "Such a showoff. What time is your flight?"

"Later tonight."

It was night time in Z country.

Wilson cuddled with Serene, but he was unable to fall asleep.

He silently got up and left the bedroom.

He had so many things bottled up in him—Stephen's betrayal, the truth of his parent's death, Serene's miscarriage… It all tumbled out of him.

Wilson was a strong man. Nevertheless, there were times when he would get depressed and anxious, as well. He stood on the balcony, and he was about to lit a cigarette when someone entered the mansion.

"Wilson Jarret! Come out now! I have no issues with you saving Serene, but you sold me out in the blink of an eye! I have a bone to pick with you!"

Wilson could hear Ruby yelling, so he went back into the living area.
