Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 622

Verian could somehow sense that Yanny and Jinn had bigger problems in their relationship than her and Heaton. Hence, she moved closer to her and wrapped her arms around Yanny’s shoulder. “Are you sure you’re going to let President Shayne go just like that?”

“I know I might never meet a better guy but we’re done. I knew him since I was eighteen and he was the one who helped put me through university. I…became one of his mistresses that year.”

Under the influence of alcohol, Yanny gradually turned to look at Verian. Her beautiful eyes glistened with tears as she smiled and said, “Verian, you and I are different. There is love between you and Heaton. Even if Heaton betrays you, you can save your relationship because you’re husband and wife. However, my relationship with Jinn was never normal. I’ve been extremely exhausted for the past eight years. I’ve kept telling myself that it’s just a deal, yet I realized afterward that a person can’t control the things they’re afraid of. The more you’re afraid of something, the more it’ll drown you.”

Verian comforted her, “But I heard Jinn saying he was going to chase after you again the other time when the boys were playing cards. That shows that he still cares a lot for you.”

“Chase after me again? He wants me to become his mistress again? Sharing him with other women? Just caring for me is not enough. He can like me and other girls at the same time. What I need is loyalty. However, the one he really cared for has never been me.”

He would not have forced himself on her and sacrificed himself to save her half-sister if he really cared about her. He knew very well that she hated Cara and the Jacob family. However, Jinn still helped them. That hurt her.

She even changed her surname to her mother's surname after her mother died. She resented the Jacob family so much and yet, Jinn defended Cara.

Well, since he wanted to protect Cara and the Jacob family so much, she decided to give him what he wanted. May he grow old with Cara!

Verian lifted her cocktail and clinked glasses with Yanny. "Let's stop talking about these unhappy memories. Come, let's drink! F*ck those bastards!"

Feeling a bit tipsy, Verian grabbed the microphone and started singing Romeo and Juliet. Yanny collapsed onto the sofa and let out a big belly laugh.

"You know how to sing this song? Verian, let me tell you, your singing… Hahaha, you're better than those young guys in the entertainment industry who only know how to lip-synch for fame. Why don’t you debut as a singer? I know the sponsors from Good Voice, let me…look for my phone."

Verian jumped on her, grabbing her cellphone from her hands. The two drunken ladies grappled with each other.

"You better not do that! I don't want to embarrass myself on the show! I'm tone-deaf!"

"No, being tone-deaf is way better than being like those fake singers out there. One time, I was invited to a singing show. Tell me, why would they even invite an actress to a singing show? After that, they gave me a whole bunch of scripted comments and made me memorize them. And you know what, those singers were terrible. I felt so awkward listening to their singing but I still had to give them fake compliments."

Bemused, Verian asked, "What show is it? Is it that bad?"

Yanny said drunkenly, "The Tomorrow's Stars. Have you watched it before?"

"I used to be a fan. I thought most of the participants sounded alright?"

Yanny waved her hand and said, "No, the footage you saw on TV was the version that’s already gone through a tuning process by the sound engineers. I’ll invite you to the live stage next time if I have a gig for music shows like this. The contestants sound awful. None of them can sing and they can only rely on the sound engineers. Even if they win, they won’t gain fame because they had no skills. After their popularity dies down, they’ll be forgotten by the public because of their lack of talent."

"Haha, really? I always wondered why the contestants were so good at singing. Is it really that different during the live stage?"

"It’s such a drastic difference."

...

Kush was driving while Heaton was in the backseat, his expression as cold as ice.

Kush cautiously looked at Heaton through the rearview mirror. He turned his eyes away as soon as his gaze fell on Heaton's dark face.

Madam, you should have known better!

How could you spend the whole night out at the bar when the boss is not at home?

Kush prayed for Verian in his heart!

After keeping silent for a few moments, the man in the backseat spoke, "How did Verian behave while I was gone?"
