A few days later, Wilson bought a villa in North City and covered the backyard with pots of roses. The roses were of various colors and as they needed special care, he built a huge greenhouse in the backyard.
Wilson covered Serene’s eyes and led her to the backyard. He slowly removed his hands from her eyes and as Serene saw the backyard covered with roses, her face turned into a grimace.
Wilson was momentarily startled as he wondered to himself, ‘Didn’t she like roses?’
“Why? Do you not like roses?”
“I do but Wilson, I would rather grow cabbages, watermelon, and grapes in the backyard…”
Wilson was at a loss for words.
He finally realized that the tricks men used on ordinary women were not applicable to Serene at all. That was because his wife was too realistic!
The next day, Wilson appointed someone to remove all the roses and got rid of the huge glass greenhouse according to Serene’s liking. He then rebuilt a mini greenhouse and grew some roses in it. As for the backyard, he planted various kinds of fruits and vegetables.
…
One night, when Wilson was reading a book, Serene snuggled into his embrace like a lazy kitten.
“Dear...”
Serene’s coquettish manner melted Wilson’s heart completely.
He put down the book and lowered his head to kiss her. “That was a flirtatious call.”
However, Serene shattered the perfect, wild imagination in his mind the next second as she asked, “When is your birthday?”
Wilson was utterly speechless.
Serene stared at him intently as she was unaware of what Wilson had on his mind. “What happened?”
He carried her in his arms and started teasing her. “What happened? You don’t even know your husband’s birthday? Shouldn’t you be punished?”
Serene folded her hands together pleading for forgiveness. “I will definitely remember it from now on. Besides, I will even prepare your birthday present beforehand!”
“It’s the 30th March. Remember it. I’ll punish you if you forget it.”
Serene’s eyes curved into a smile. “Dear, you’re an Aries!”
Wilson had never bothered about constellations. He hugged the little girl in his embrace and rubbed his chin against her hand. He then asked nonchalantly as if he was pampering a little kid, “What constellation are you then?”
“I’m a Sagittarius! Dear, we’re a perfect match! Our compatibility is 100%.”
Wilson gazed at her bright eyes with an affectionate gaze. “If that’s the case, let’s go to the office and register our marriage tomorrow morning, my Sagittarius girl.”
“Okay!” Serene answered without hesitation.
Wilson sighed lightly. With the woman he loved in his embrace, he gradually closed his eyes to enjoy such a pleasurable moment. He felt exceptionally satisfied in life.
…
The next day, they woke up early in the morning and registered their marriage. They were officially husband and wife now.
Serene held the two red marriage books happily in hand and scrutinized it for quite a bit. She even took a photo and uploaded it on her social media.
As Verian saw Serene’s post in her newsfeed, she commented on the photo. [Mrs. Jarret, it’s time for you to treat us wedding candies.] She ended the sentence with a smirk emoji.
[Congratulations Serene! Don’t forget to inform me when you two hold a wedding. I’ll prepare a thick red envelope for you then.] Xylean commented.
Helen made a comment on Serene’s post too. [What a fortunate year it is. We just had Verian’s wedding not long ago and now it’s your turn.] She inserted a beaming face emoji before ending her sentence.
As Serene worked in a hospital previously and had added many of her colleagues as friends in WeChat back then, many of her ex-colleagues gave her blessings one after another.
[Wow, what a surprise, Serene! You didn’t even have a boyfriend back then and now you’re married! That is quick!]
[Damn it, your husband looks handsome in the marriage certificate! What exquisite facial features he has! Does your husband have any siblings? Introduce them to me!]
