Peak Valley in June was not as hot as the other bigger, bustling cities. The morning brought a cool breeze; it was immensely pleasant.
Lucy was about five months pregnant, and her baby bump was showing.
River Burks was a good man. He did not look down on Lucy just because she got pregnant before marriage. He was also willing to bring up the baby even though it was not his.
Lucy did not have feelings for River, but he moved her. Even though Lucy rejected him, he still helped her. It was hard for a pregnant woman to move around in Peak Valley's mountainous terrain.
Over time, everyone just assumed that they were a couple.
The country people were much kinder and more honest; there was no gossip or rumors. Lucy was not only a good teacher, but she also helped the school gain a massive amount of donations, so everyone was grateful to her.
Lucy caressed her baby bump as she stood under the morning sun. The doctor advised that pregnant women should get some sunlight to help with the calcium intake, plus it was good for the baby as well.
"Lulu, I've packed your bag and rented a car. We can now go to the town hospital for your checkup!"
Lucy nodded. "Sure, let's go. The journey should take about two to three hours; we'll arrive there pretty late."
"Let's go."

River and Lucy left Zephyr Primary School in a car. They were halfway on their journey when they saw a black Bentley in the opposite direction. River commented, "I did not expect to see a Bentley in the countryside."
Lucy did not notice it at all. She was car sick since the journey started, so she could not focus. She muttered, "Maybe they're here on an excursion."
