After Dark Shadow Left, Blaine walked downstairs with that German Shepherd.
Blaine asked, “Did my underling say anything to you earlier?”
Hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn as Ruby took a mental note of Dark Shadow before saying, “Your underling was flirting with me earlier. He even told me that I was beautiful and I resembled a woman he liked.”
Blaine did not seem surprised and it was uncertain if he actually believed her or not since he merely replied with a calm, “Sure.” He then sat on the couch while the German Shepherd rushed over to him.
The man then replied with a deep voice, “I’ll send him to the desert for a few months as his punishment next time.”
Ruby smirked silently.
As Ruby noticed that huge dog next to him, she instinctively asked, “Was that dog a gift from your underling?”
“It was mine but since I brought a stray cat home previously, I was busy taking care of the cat and forgot to get my dog back.”
Ruby was stunned as she frantically scanned the entire room with her beady eyes and said, “Stray cat? I’ve been living here for so many days now but I haven't even seen a single stray cat. Where’s the cat?”
She was confused and wide-eyed. It was rare for her to look so confused and adorable and in that moment, she did not seem as sharp as a little fox would.
Blaine smiled as he patted the huge dog next to him with his huge hand while staring at her with a funny look. His clear cold eyes looked interesting as he smiled.
Ruby unintentionally met his gaze and it took her a brief moment to react to it.
The stray cat this man mentioned was none other than her!
Her clear and attractive cheeks blushed slightly as she snapped back in a prideful tone, “I’m not a cat or a dog!”
Somehow, she realized something after she was done speaking and immediately added, “I’m not a little fox either! The point is, I’m not some tiny animal!”
Her furious rebuttal made her seem a little more aligned to her seventeen or eighteen year old self.
She should have acted this way from the start.
Blaine patted the German Shepherd with one hand while the other patted the woman’s little head. He said, “Yeah, you’re not some tiny animal, alright.”
Ruby was speechless since she never was an animal in the first place.
