Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 716

“The only thing is what exactly?”

Nine recalled about the seared and branded skin underneath her clavicle as he explained with a slight frown, “The only thing is that her left chest seems to have been seared by some sort of branding iron. The skin around that area has already started to necrose. If she doesn’t want a scar on that area, she’ll need to wait for that part to heal before any further treatment can be done.”

“Branding iron?”

A dangerously menacing glint flashed across Blaine’s eyes.

Those people actually dared to torture her with a branding iron? Blaine was only aware of the whipping when he rescued her and due to how bloodied she looked, Blaine did not notice the seared brand on the left side of her chest.

Nine said, “The President has crossed the line this time. I’ve heard rumors about Paul’s dungeon but I never expect his underlings to be ruthless enough to do such a thing to a woman. However, Director, this woman is strong and didn’t actually crack. If I was the one being tortured like this, I might have broke way earlier.”

After the medical team left, Aunt Heather came upstairs and said, “The herbal soup is ready, Master. Should I serve it up for Miss Softie now?”

As Blaine stood by the door, he stared intensely at the sleeping woman on the bed as he spoke in a soft tone, “Let her sleep a little longer.”

“Yes, Master Blaine.”

After Aunt Heather walked downstairs, Blaine who was watching over the unconscious woman asked Old K, “Have you taken care of those two guards?”

“They’ve already been sent to the hidden cell. We won’t let them die immediately. Don’t worry, we’ll keep them alive for just a couple more days.”

Blaine was emotionless when he calmly replied ‘sure’ before continuing, “Question them about who exactly seared Softie with a branding iron.”

“Alright, I’ll have someone interrogate the guards.”

Blaine currently had no intention of dealing with the matter, so he ordered, “You can leave now.”

“Yes, Director.”

Blaine only entered the room after Old K left. He sat beside the bed as he stared at the woman in bed with a gentle gaze.

Blaine raised his hand and gently touched the bruise at the corner of her lips before lowering his gaze. He gently pulled her pajamas aside and noticed the seared skin underneath her left clavicle.

Blaine then pulled her collar open wider. His pupils constricted significantly when he stared at the spot.

Although medicine had been applied to her wounds, that burned spot was heart-wrenching to look at and would leave behind a scar the size of half a person’s palm when it eventually healed. Although the other lashes would fade away with time, the part of her skin that had necrosed would not recover without the help of surgery.

The longer Blaine stared at the wound, the colder his gaze grew.

He was actually oblivious to the agonizing two days of pure, hellish torture she had to endure.

If he was late by even a day, he might have actually been met with her corpse instead.

His palms instinctively reached out to gently caress her little face. He was extremely cautious in his movements, worried about hurting her. It made him look like he was touching a person made of glass.

It was uncertain how long Blaine watched over Ruby before she gradually started to wake up.

It seemed all the pain receptors throughout her body were awakened as soon as she woke up. The sharp pain caused her to frown so hard, even her beautiful cheeks started to wrinkle up in pain.

“If the pain’s really unbearable, I can have them increase your painkiller dosage,” Blaine told her while helping her up.

While Ruby leaned back on her soft pillow as she sat up, she shook her head while staring at Blaine and said, “It doesn’t hurt that much anymore now.”

Painkillers were not exactly good for her body. If her body built up a tolerance toward it and she suffered from a gunshot or anything else in the future, it would not be as effective as before.

“I’m hungry, Blaine.”

Eating food was the fastest way for anyone to recover.

Blaine personally fed her when Aunt Heather brought the freshly-made herbal soup upstairs.

“I can feed myself, Blaine.”

Blaine persisted as he said, “Look at how serious your injuries are. Just be a good patient, alright.”

Ruby was speechless.

When Blaine fed her a spoonful of soup, he stared at her and simply said, “Be a good girl now. Open wide.”
