Layla turned around and stared at Boyle with a warm and gentle gaze. She spoke with a smile, "Boyle, look at how caring Hans is toward his girlfriend. You should really learn from him."
When Cherie heard what she said, this made her food very hard to swallow.
They really were together now.
With that knowledge in mind, Cherie no longer had any appetite left to eat, so she put her spoon down and told Hans, "I'm full and just remembered that Whitney was actually looking for me. I'll be off now."
"But you barely ate anything. Would you feel hungry during your noon classes? Do you want me to bring you something to eat from the cafeteria later?"
"There's no need. Really, I'm not hungry."
Cherie seemed as if she was trying to escape as she ran out from the cafeteria.
…
The girls in her room were discussing on Friday night about where they should go to hang out that weekend.
However, Cherie was laying in bed lifelessly and seemed very unmotivated to do anything.
It seemed after Whitney started dating, she was starting to forget about her best friend more often.
Therefore, her weekend would become even more boring.
Natalie asked, "Hey, Cherie, do you want to hang out with us this weekend?"
Joy chuckled and said, "Cherie wouldn't hang out with us. She has Hans now so why would she even want to spend time with us anyway?"
Mandy added, "Oh, come on now. Do you think the boys that we'll eventually meet at the party would even bat an eye at you if Cherie came along with us? They'll drool over the chance to add Cherie on Facebook, so what makes you think you'd even stand a chance?"
While Natalie ate some jerky, she told Cherie immediately after hearing that, "I think it's best that you don't come along then, Cherie. Go on ahead and enjoy your date with Hans."
Cherie pulled the covers over herself in frustration.
Her phone started to ring so she picked up the call.
It was from Whitney. "Hey, Cherie, let's hit the bar tomorrow!"
Cherie scoffed and said, "Aren't you supposed to be busy dating? Why would you still have time for me anyway?"
"Whoa, strong words, buddy. You've truly become a mess after losing Boyle!"
"You're the one who’s a mess! I'm not going!"
She was planning to sleep her entire weekend off in her room just to clear her mind.
Whitney scoffed and teased, "Are you sure that you're really not coming? Man, I even prepared a huge surprise for you!"
Whitney's statement had successfully piqued Cherie's curiosity as she asked, "What surprise?"
Whitney snapped back at her, "Just come along with me, would you? Just think of it as keeping me company. Besides, it's pretty meaningless for you to lock yourself away in your room alone. Aren't you interested in meeting my boyfriend?"
Cherie remained silent.
Upon noticing her silence, Whitney continued to provoke her, "Are you even my best friend? If you are, you'll be there for me. Aren't you worried about my feelings being cheated on by him?"
"If you're that afraid of your feelings being cheated on by him, why are you still dating him? You are a classic sl*t, you know."
"Are you coming or not?"
"Fine, since you're so sincere, I'll reluctantly agree to tag along."
…
Boyle received a phone call from Huntley while he was at his law firm.
"You don't have anything going on tomorrow, right?"
"I need to follow up on the latest case here at the law firm tomorrow."
Ever since that incident went viral, business was booming for the Earnest Law Firm since clients were only there for Boyle.
Huntley replied judgmentally, "Oh my god, are you not afraid of dying from overworking yourself since you're still working on a Saturday? Do you know that a normal working-class person only works from 9am to 9pm six days a week? Look at you, you actually yearn to work twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Come on now, even if you're a machine, you'll still need to take some time off to recharge."
"I have my ways to rest."
Huntley was speechless by his reply.
Huntley persisted and said, "I… I've started dating recently and my girlfriend and I are going on a trip tomorrow. You and Hector can come along. The more the merrier, right?"
Boyle immediately replied, "Hector and I won't be coming along to be your third wheel."
"No. I mean, my girlfriend has invited a few girls too, so maybe you and Hector might find someone you both like."
Boyle refused immediately, "I'm not interested."
