Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 809

Time went by in a flash and it was now the National Day holiday.

Verian had called to ask if Cherie was coming home since if she was, she wanted to book an earlier flight ticket home for her.

Cherie initially wanted to tell Verian that she was going home. However, with a second thought, Boyle might actually be returning to his hometown at North City.

Hence, she told Verian, "Mom, I will be booking my own ticket if I'm going home. You and dad shouldn't worry about me. I'm already 18 mom, I can't possibly not know how to book my own plane ticket now, right?"

Verian did not think much about it as she agreed to Cherie's wishes. Allowing her daughter to gain more experience might actually be a good thing for her.

Before Cherie entered university, her entire life was always planned out for her or had her every need taken good care of. She was like a little flower that was grown in a greenhouse since both Heaton and Old Master Fudd had always shielded her from everything. She was basically spoiled by them, so she had never once stumbled in her life before.

"Alright. However, if you're unable to get a plane ticket, remember to give me or your father a call. You haven't been home since your semester started. We miss you dearly, especially your grandpa and your father."

Harrison's voice could be heard coming from the phone as well. He said, "Mom, don't you spout nonsense now. I don't want my sister to come home. All she ever does is hit me in bed. If she isn't a girl, I would've never gone easy on her."

They hung up the call after joking amongst themselves a little.

Cherie then gave Boyle a call.

Boyle's deep voice could be heard coming from the other end of the call. "Hey, what's going on?"

Cherie pouted her lips as she mumbled, "Can't I call you for no reason?"

"Sure you can."

Boyle remained silent for a brief moment as he switched on the loudspeaker and placed his phone down on the table.

Cherie could hear the subtle sounds of pages of paper being flipped open as she asked, "Am I disturbing your work?"

"No, you can speak. I'm listening."

Her heart felt sweet as she knew he was multitasking by working and talking to her at the same time.

"I wanted to ask. Are you going back to North City during the holidays?"

"Nope."

He had too much work on hand. Not to mention, he still had to pick a research topic for his thesis while at the same time managing work at his law firm. Huntley was pretty much a parasite and although Hector would also manage the law firm, he had never studied law before so he would pretty much only manage the law firm's finances since he majored in business.

Therefore, Boyle had to shoulder a pretty huge responsibility. Hence, he could not spare any more time.

Cherie replied in a deflated tone when he told her that he was not returning home, "Oh." She grabbed the railings beside her bed with her little hands in a depressed mood.

"I initially wanted to return to North City with you. That way, I'd be able to have fun with you during the holidays."

Boyle smiled as he said, "But I'm swamped with too much work. Be a good girl. You can however, return to campus earlier during the holidays and I'd be able to make some time to show you around the capital for two days according to my schedule."

"No. I want to see you everyday."

Her flirtatious remarks felt sweet and cheesy. Boyle could not resist her.

The man closed his document folders, shut his laptop down, picked up his phone and placed it next to his ear while squeezing his brows with his long slender fingers. A helpless and compassionate smile could be seen on the man's handsome face.

"Cherie…"

The man had only called out to her once before the woman obediently said through the phone, "Alright then. I know you're going to refuse me either way. Work's more important than me. However, even though you're not going to return home with me during the holidays, I want to see you now and I really want to have dinner with you. Can you at least grant me that wish, Mr. Lawyer Boyle?"

Boyle smiled wider. Sure, of course he could.

"Alright. Do you have any restaurants in mind that you really want to go to?"

Cherie replied, "I want to eat in the school's cafeteria."

Boyle raised his brows slightly as he asked in a gentle tone, "Are you helping me to save money?"
