Could the old man have already about their fake marriage?
The first thought that came to Verian Mont’s mind was Nancy Xander exposing them since she had long known about Heaton Fudd and her pretending to be a married couple. However, she never exposed them back then but why did she choose to tell the old man about this now?
Upon noticing their silence, the old man’s heart was filled to the brim with rage as he forcefully slammed his walking stick on the ground a couple of times while yelling, “Are you mute now? You don’t dare to admit it after you were bold enough to do it?!”
Just as Verian Mont was just about to explain, Heaton Fudd suddenly opened his mouth and said confidently, “Dad, Verian, and I are having a trial marriage.”
Trial marriage?
The old man looked toward him while frowning. “Trial marriage? Heaton Fudd, if you dare to mess with me again, would you believe that I’d actually break your legs?”
Heaton Fudd continued to explain calmly, “Verian is Little Jelly Bean’s birth mother and this fact alone cannot be changed. Since there’s already a blood bond, it’ll be impossible for them to not interact with one another till the day they die. However, I have no emotional foundation with Verian Mont so for Little Jelly Bean’s sake, we’ve decided the best solution is a trial marriage.”
The old man scoffed, “You truly have a way with words! Trial marriage, hmph. What if after the trial, you two realized that you both are incompatible with one another? What do you guys plan to do then?”
“We’ll just not get married if we’re incompatible.”
“What about the child?”
After Heaton Fudd remained silent for a couple of seconds, he then said, “However, now, I’ve already decided that we are exceptionally compatible. I plan to marry her.”
Verian Mont was stunned as she looked up and stared at him.
Was he serious? Or was he just saying that to deal with the old man?
Before Verian Mont could recover from her shock, the old man yelled out furiously, “I don’t agree with you marrying her!”
“Dad, the person that’s marrying her is me, not you. Your disagreement has nothing to do with me.”
That old man was furiously pointing toward him, “You… you! Heaton Fudd, good for you! You b*stard child!”
Verian Mont never expected that Heaton Fudd would speak to the old man like this for her sake. She tugged Heaton Fudd’s sleeve with her tiny hand to signal him to speak a little more politely.
However, that old man pointed at her and furiously said, “If you marry her, you can get out of the Fudd family home! She had a purpose to be Little Jelly Bean’s surrogate mother and marrying you three years ago! I don’t allow such a scheming lady to be my granddaughter’s mother! I can never allow her to be an in-law to the Fudd family!”
“Dad, even if I don’t marry her, Little Jelly Bean will never leave her.”
Little Jelly Bean was the apple of the old man’s eyes and it would be natural for the old man to not wish to see her sad. Using Little Jelly Bean as leverage against the old man was obviously strangling him.
“You! Heaton Fudd! You b*stard!”
That old man was so agitated that his entire expression turned pale. His chest was hurting after being infuriated by Heaton Fudd.
Heaton Fudd immediately rushed over to help him out but he was flung away by that old man. “You b*stard! Leave now!”
Heaton Fudd led Verian Mont out of the study with him. “Dad, just stay here for a while. We’ll talk after you’ve calmed down.”
While that old man was staring at them leaving, his heart started to wrench incredibly then suddenly everything in front of him turned black as he violently fell onto the ground.
“Dad!”
…
Outside of the emergency room of the hospital.
Heaton Fudd was sitting on the long bench while crossing his arms as if he was thinking about something.
Verian Mont approached him and spoke in a remorseful tone, “I’m sorry. If it wasn’t for me, the old man wouldn’t pass out from being agitated.”
“It’s not your fault.”
Little Jelly Bean was sitting beside Heaton Fudd. She was staring at the huge bold red letters saying ‘OPERATION’ with her huge eyes. She asked while pouting her little mouth, “Daddy, why did grandpa pass out?”
Verian Mont knew that Heaton Fudd would be in an awful mood now so she carried Little Jelly Bean into her arms and softly said, “Your daddy is in a bad mood now. Let’s all wait here for grandpa and without a doubt, he would wake up.”
Little Jelly Bean was smart and obedient. “Yes! Grandpa will wake up!”
