After a couple rounds of drinks, it seemed the trio of men were starting to feel a little tipsy.
Hector was feeling excited as he kept insisting both Boyle and Huntley to continue drinking with him while holding onto his glass. He exclaimed, "No one is going home tonight until we're all completely wasted!"
Huntley teased, "Oh Hector, I never knew you were such an alcoholic."
Hector replied with a laugh, "Oh, that was all in the past. We are now here, seven years later and I, in order to live, had no choice but to drink whenever I'm meeting clients."
Boyle replied, "Oh, you know there's always a suitable position for you in MO Group. If you're willing, you can always come over."
Hector jokingly said, "So, can I give myself any amount of salary I want, President Lawson?"
"Sure, I'd be completely fine with any amount as long as it's not higher than the normal market rates."
Hector pointed at him and said, "Oh, you cunning old fox! My expectation isn't that high. I'd be happy if my annual salary is two hundred thousand bucks higher than what my company offered me."
Boyle was generous as he said, "I'll give you five hundred thousand bucks more. All you have to do is come over to my company and slave away for me."
Hector nearly choked on his liquor when he heard that as he said, "Are you sure you're willing to give me an extra five hundred thousand bucks for my annual salary? Although you're actually extremely rich now, President Lawson, I'm not a useless bum in my company too, you know. I happened to be a finance manager in my company and my base annual salary starts at one million bucks, you know."
"I know and I have high hopes for you."
Boyle had always been confident in Hector's abilities. While the trio of men were still in university, they started a law firm together. Although Hector was not a lawyer, he was responsible for helping them manage all the finances of the law firm.
It seemed that they missed the good old days of working and drinking together back then.
Huntley was now responsible to inherit his family's business, so he obviously was unable to work for Boyle and have fun with Hector like they used to.
However, it seemed both Huntley's family's business and MO Group had close relations with one another as they had business with one another.
Hector picked up his glass and clinked glasses with Boyle as he exclaimed without any hesitation, "It's a deal!"
Huntley joined in with their fun and clinked glasses with them too. He said, "Me too! Me too, guys!"
Hector chuckled, "Our motley crew is back! However, the only thing is that Huntley that little b*stard had betrayed both Boyle and I."
Huntley replied, "Oh please, I have to inherit my family's business okay. Man, if I was like both of you, you know, started from nothing, I'd join you guys in your fight for glory in a heartbeat. However, my old man is not getting any younger and there are plenty of things that I wanted to do but circumstances just wouldn't allow me to. I need to deal with a lot of business, you know."
Hector said, "The both of you are rich now so I expect you guys to take care of me, you know the little guy who doesn't even have a wife. I've recently just bought a house in the capital and I have to bear quite the heavy debt so you both have to support me financially, alright!"
Huntley gave Hector's back a violent slap as he said, "Oh please, you'd be working for Boyle soon. Do you think he'll mistreat you in any way? So you're telling me that an annual salary of over two million bucks isn't enough to repay your housing loans?"
"It is, it sure is. It's also enough for me to get married." Hector immediately chugged the liquor down.
Although Cherie had been silently eating alone at the table, she was quite envious of the close bond those three shared.
It was extremely clear of just how close their friendship was.
Boyle was lucky to have such amazing friends like Hector and Huntley who would never abandon him no matter what.
…
After the drinking session was over, Whitney grabbed Huntley's wallet and went over to the counter to pay for everything.
Boyle went to help Huntley to the washroom.
Since Hector had way too much to drink, he reached out and placed his arm on Cherie's shoulder as he said, "Man Cherie, I truly didn't expect you'd make your way over to S City just for Boyle back then. I can't believe you guys broke up in the end. Such a shame though, just look at how perfect you both are for each other."
Cherie was completely confused as she asked, "What do you mean, Hector?"
"Huh? Didn't you ask that roommate of yours, what was her name again… I think she's Natalie or something? Well, she called me and asked where Boyle went, so I sent her the address to Boyle's hotel along with his room number. Does that mean you never went to S City for him?"
Cherie's eyes trembled as she said, "So you're telling me that Natalie called you and used my name to ask for the whereabouts of Boyle's hotel?"
"Yeah. Didn't you know? You guys had officially broken up when Boyle returned from S City back then so I never dared to bring it up since I was worried that he might be sad. Not to mention, it's between the both of you and it doesn't really feel right to me to talk about it anyway. Man, now that I think about it, it really is such a shame, Cherie. Boyle sure is persistent alright. When he loves someone, he'd be completely obsessed over that person and it'll be hard for him to change. Are you really not going to reconsider your decisions though?"
Cherie gulped as she sat by the table while her hands that were placed underneath the table felt cold.
Does that mean Natalie used her name seven years ago to ask for the whereabouts of Boyle's hotel in S City which caused...
