Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 988

After Cherie finished her lunch with Hector and Layla, Cherie accepted Layla's wedding invitation, grabbed her bag and left.

Hector asked, "Hey Cherie, you didn't take a cab here?"

Cherie felt a little curious as she asked, "How did you know?"

Hector chuckled and said, "Oh, Boyle is a slave to his wife. It'll be impossible for him to allow you to take a cab here on your own."

Cherie replied with a helpless tone, "My driver's license was confiscated by him and I can't drive anymore."

"Layla and I will send you home then, so you won't have to call a cab home."

"Oh there's no need for that. I'll head over to his office and hand your invitation to him."

Hector said, "His office is pretty nearby though. If not, you can have Boyle send someone over to come pick you up. Look at how hot the sun is out there. Don't you get a heat stroke now, okay?"

Cherie nodded and teased, "Oh Hector, since when have you become worse than Boyle in nagging? If you treat Layla like this in the future, wouldn't she find it annoying?"

Layla chuckled and said, "He sure can nag alright. If I read anything for more than two hours, he'll take my book away and tell me that it's bad for my eyes."

Cherie noticed that the love they displayed did not seem fake. She could tell that they truly loved each other.

Cherie waved at them and said, "I'll be on my way now, bye."

Hector gave Boyle a call after Cherie left to tell him where Cherie was.

Layla stared at Hector with a peculiar gaze after his phone call.

"Why are you so caring toward Cherie, Hector? Your fiance just so happens to be sitting right beside you."

Hector chuckled before reaching out to hug Layla's shoulder as he explained in a patient tone, "You know how much of a slave Boyle is to his wife. If I didn't report this to him, Boyle will have my head. Man, it's fine if he spoils his wife alone but he expects his friends to take care of her as well or else Boyle will make sure I pay for my sins with my annual salary."

Layla rolled her eyes at him before saying, "Not bad. You guys have all become Cherie's slaves, right?"

"Not exactly. Layla, the truth is, you shouldn't hold a grudge against Cherie even though she says some really mean things at times or sometimes, she just says things too bluntly. Well, I know that people don't really get along with anyone who speaks too bluntly these days. However, if you spend more time with her and get to know her better, you'd realize that Cherie actually means well and she's pretty easy to get along with since she tends to speak her mind."

Layla mocked with an intentionally cold tone, "Since you and Boyle are just the same by thinking Cherie is a good person, why'd you even marry me in the first place?"

Hector rubbed his nose and let out an awkward chuckle as he said, "How is that the same thing? Although Cherie is a pretty good person, I can never deal with her if she's my wife. Boyle and her are a perfect match. Me on the other hand, well, I'm pretty compatible with you, Layla."

Hector kissed Layla's cheeks after he said that.

Layla blushed as she glared at him. She said, "What are you doing? We're in public, you know."

Hector raised his brows and said, "What can they possibly do to me when I'm kissing my fiance?"

Layla grabbed her bag, stood up and gave him a kick before saying, "Let's go. Let's send out these invites to your other friends."

"Alright."

Hector caught up to her, grabbed her hand and carried her bag for her while placing his arm around her shoulders.

Layla took a glance at the calendar when she sat in the passenger seat. It seemed she would be marrying Hector early next month.

She sighed as she reflected on her past while she was still in university.

It seemed time had gone by in a flash. She met Boyle when they were still studying together in Capital City University. She used to think that she would only have feelings for Boyle and no one else back then.

However, it seemed that the man she would soon marry was a man named Hector Zachary.

The husband she would soon spend the rest of her life with was not as capable, sharp, gentle or as appealing as Boyle.

She recalled plenty of things from her past after running into Cherie.

She remembered that Boyle had quite the successful start on his business in New York during the third year of his break up with Cherie.
