In an instant, Daniel was furious. It was incomprehensible that Brad was still flirting with Jean at a time like this. Daniel felt that Brad had already suffered enough from Jean's scheming, yet he still hadn't learned his lesson.
If it weren't for the fact that Brad was his own flesh and blood, Daniel would have loved to use the broom to beat some sense into him.
"Ms. Sawyer, if you're truly a guest here, why were you found in Brad's bed?" Daniel asked sharply. "Brad is so ill; he doesn't have the strength to engage in such disgraceful behavior with you!"
Having seen through such schemes before, Daniel was not about to give Jean any leeway. She was nowhere near worthy of deceiving the Hamiltons.
When Daniel pointed out the situation, everyone around quickly understood and began whispering among themselves.
"Thank goodness Mr. Daniel Hamilton is back. Otherwise, we'd all have been kept in the dark! Ms. Sawyer's intentions are anything but innocent."
"Exactly! She's so desperate to become Mrs. Hamilton that she resorts to such pathetic tricks."
"And don't forget, when I was on night watch last night, Mr. Brad Hamilton's door was closed and Mr. Gomez was inside taking care of him. I didn't see Ms. Sawyer at all. How did she even get in?"
"How could she be so bold at such a young age? She even sneaked into his bed in the middle of the night while he was ill, just to lay claim to him. It's utterly shameless!"
"Luckily, Mr. Brad Hamilton was ill last night, otherwise, the truth might never have come out."
"From now on, we should be more careful. People like her shouldn't be allowed into Hamilton Estate!"
Despite the murmurs being low, Jean heard every word. Each comment felt like a sharp needle piercing her heart, humiliating her thoroughly. She could no longer maintain her facade of innocence. She burst into tears, crying out loud.
