In the evening, Madelyn packed her things after school. Thinking Sebastian should arrive soon, she couldn’t help but quicken her pace.

Just as she stepped out the door, a voice suddenly called out from behind, “Madelyn!”

Madelyn turned around, noticing Janessa rushing toward her.

“Madelyn, I’ve been calling you for a while earlier. Why did you ignore me?” Janessa asked innocently when she reached Madelyn.

“Is that so? Do you need something from me?”

Madelyn glanced at her, clearly annoyed. Didn’t I already say I wouldn’t forgive her? Why is she asking again?

As a result, Janessa was seen pulling out a box of ointment or something similar from her pocket. “Madelyn, I heard you got hurt from a fall, so I specifically went to the pharmacy and bought this medicine specially made to treat bruises and sprains. You should use it. Maybe it might just speed up your recovery,” Janessa said earnestly as she handed the ointment in her hand to Madelyn.

Upon seeing the ointment in her hand, Madelyn suddenly let out a cold laugh.

If I didn’t know better, I might actually believe that Janessa is genuinely concerned about me, but in reality, who knows what kind of schemes are brewing in her mind?

Hence, Madelyn smiled poisedly and dignifiedly and declined, “Thank you for your kindness, but you don’t need to trouble yourself. There will be a doctor specifically assigned to treat me.”

“B–But I’m really worried about you!” Janessa explained pitifully. “Madelyn, I’m just concerned for you. Can’t you even accept this small token of my sincerity?”

Janessa worried about me? I can laugh my head off at that remark, but it’s a bit wasteful if her fake and pretentious acting doesn’t land her the Oscars Best Actress award.

Then, Madelyn said coldly, “No thanks. If you think a simple ointment can earn my forgiveness, then you’ve thought too much. Someone is waiting for me, so I should go.”

Madelyn left after that.

Sebastian’s black Maserati was parked just at the intersection a short distance away. Madelyn strode over, opened the car door, and got in with familiar ease.

Then, the car paused fo

r a few seconds before speeding off.

Upon witnessing the scene, Janessa couldn’t help but clench her teeth tightly, her eyes filled with hostility.

Who else could have been in the car, if not Sebastian? That d*mn Madelyn, she’s becoming more and more ostentatious now! Even when Sebastian was deeply concerned about her in the past, he would never drive to the school gate to pick her up. Yet now, he blatantly drives his luxury car right up to the school gate to pick her up! I’m sure Madelyn must’ve demanded him to do so. Madelyn, this despicable woman! She’s truly wretched to the core!

“How pitiful, Janessa. It’s clear how much you like Sebastian, yet you can’t get close to him. Worse still, you have to watch your bestie spend day and night with him. Oh, you poor thing,” Christopher teased.

Janessa turned her head and glared at him. “Cut the cr*p, who said Madelyn and I are besties? Moreover, what gives you the right to judge me? When it comes to unrequited love, you’re the same as I am. You can’t have Madelyn, and I can’t have Sebastian. Between us, it’s just a case of the pot calling the kettle black,” Janessa scorned.

Unexpectedly, Christopher smiled with confidence. “In your dreams, who said we’re the same? You can’t have Sebastian. That’s a fact. Even if Madelyn isn’t in the picture, countless prominent young ladies from prestigious families will still be lining up for him. Even if you wait for your entire life, it’s not guaranteed he’ll even take a liking to you.”

Christopher continued smugly, “But, I’m different. Madelyn is smitten with me, and everyone knows that. Sooner or later, I’ll find a way to win her over.”

“Christopher, I think you’re overthinking. From the looks of it, Madelyn is spending far more time with Sebastian than with you. Where on earth do you get the confidence to think you can win her over?” Janessa scoffed, her words laced with sarcasm.

Christopher immediately countered, “That’s because you don’t understand! Do you know why her hands were injured?”

“Why?”

“Just last night, she ended up in a fight with another woman just so she could go to the bar to wait for me. The injury on her hand was because of me. Tell me, doesn’t that prove she likes me?” Christopher stated decisively.

Recalling the scenes from the previous night, Christopher was absolutely certain that Madelyn was still profoundly in love with him.

“Is that so?”

Janessa suddenly realized that the injury on Madelyn’s hand wasn’t from a fall as claimed, but from a fight.

But would Madelyn actually fight for Christopher? What was that all about?

Janessa said coldly, “Christopher, if you’re so sure that Madelyn likes you, then act quickly! Don’t dilly–dally. What if Madelyn falls for Sebastian one day? We’re both goners by then.”

“Of course, just wait and see,” Christopher confidently stated with a determination to succeed.

In the evening, a perfectly matched couple could be seen through the floor–to–ceiling windows of the eighteenth floor of a five–star hotel. They were none other than Sebastian and Madelyn.

The waiter stood by the table and asked very politely, “May I take your order, please?”

Sebastian looked up at Madelyn and asked, “What would you like to eat?”

Madelyn, however, suddenly looked at him intently, responding to his question with a question of her own. “Why did you bring me here to eat all of a sudden?”
