Obviously, Carlos was in a good mood this time. “I have to thank Mr. Lindstrom for giving me this readily. As for our wedding date, you will know soon!” He beamed. 

Hearing Carlos‘ words, everyone wanted to take a photo of Jaxon, who had been previously ignored by them. Unfortunately, they only managed to catch his retreating back. 

Realizing that Carlos was more newsworthy, another reporter continued, “May I ask if the date for your wedding with Ms. Salvatore has been fixed?” 

“I have just answered you whatever I can just now! Sorry, but I’m going to take my fiancée home to rest…” declared Carlos before pushing through the surrounding reporters and leaving with Mikayla. 

Although the media didn’t get a lot of information, at least Carlos, who was hard to talk to, had revealed that his wedding date was soon. They were sure this would be the hottest news tomorrow. 

As it happened, when Carlos and Mikayla met Jaxon and Winona in the parking lot, they saw Winona who had just caught up to Jaxon asking Jaxon to wait for her as she rested a bit as she was exhausted due to her pregnancy. Unexpectedly, Winona came face to face with the last person she wanted to see tonight. 

When Winona realized that Jaxon hadn’t bought her the necklace, she was upset but dared not ask Jaxon about it. Seeing Mikayla at this moment, Winona lost control of her temper. But since Jaxon was by her side, she could only stand by him obediently. 

Walking toward Winona, Mikayla chuckled lightly when she saw Winona’s twisted expression as Winona tried hard to keep her temper in check. “Winona, don’t look at me like that. If you like it so much, I can lend it to you for a few days to wear. At least you can satisfy your heartfelt desire!” 

Winona stomped her feet as her expression finally crumbled. “Mikayla! Stop gloating!” she yelled. In just a short time, Mikayla had made Winona swallow her own words back! 

Mikayla had no time to talk to Winona anymore. Carlos opened the passenger seat door and helped Mikayla into her seat before closing her door for her and getting into the driver’s seat. 

Mikayla had no mercy for Winona. Unfortunately, Lucas hadn’t made any progress yet, and it was very likely that Winona was the mastermind. Mikayla hadn’t thought about how she wanted to deal with Winona. ‘Let’s wait and see how it goes… thought Mikayla. 

Carlos‘ black Ford looked sleek under the light as it quietly drove past Jaxon and Winona. 

Winona looked resentfully at Jaxon who was sitting on the passenger seat with an indifferent look as he stared ahead. 

“Are you well rested now?” Jaxon asked gloomily. 

“I’m okay now!” replied Winona. 

“Let’s go, then!” snapped Jaxon, as he walked ahead with an expressionless face. 

After driving away, Carlos glanced sideways at Mikayla and noticed that she was not in a good mood. 

“What’s wrong?” asked Carlos. 

“Nothing.” Mikayla shook her head smilingly before changing the topic. “By the way, how did you end up buying the necklace?” 

“You should know! Jaxon has no control over the Lindstrom family’s finances, and do you really think Hugo will give Jaxon 87 million dollars just to buy a necklace? So I suggested Jaxon to sell the necklace to me. Of course, I ensured that the auctioneer was paid a fair price for it. That’s all!” explained Carlos. 

Looking at Carlos with his hand on the steering wheel exuding a quiet and noble air, Mikayla found it hard to believe that the whole thing was as simple as what Carlos had said. 

Carlos had been prepared to buy the necklace at an exorbitant price. The moment he saw it, he thought it would suit Mikayla well. Even if it was expensive, as he said, no amount of money was too much if Mikayla liked it. Plus, Carlos was different from Jaxon, who was still like a baby in a swaddle and needed Hugo to wipe his ass. But when Mikayla stopped him from bidding, another idea formed in his head and he took advantage of Jaxon’s weakness. All in all, Carlos not only managed to get the necklace he wanted, he even saved some money. 

“Why did Jaxon give it to you so easily?” queried Mikayla. She thought, ‘Even if Jaxon didn’t have enough money and the person asking was Carlos, Jaxon still wouldn’t have given it to Carlos!

“It means you have a good taste. He was impressed by your future husband and gave up!” jested Carlos. 

Mikayla was rendered briefly speechless before she managed to retort, “Carlos, I find that you are getting more and more shameless!” ‘Do your fans know that you’re a jokester?‘ wondered Mikayla sarcastically. 

“As long as it’s funny to you!” said Carlos.

The atmosphere was good throughout the journey. Half an hour later, Carlos sent Mikayla back to the Salvatore manor and went up with her to massage her feet. 

“Tomorrow after work, I’ll take you to Lorenzo for a re–examination to ensure you are okay,” stated Carlos as he put away the medicine into the 

medical kit. 

“Okay, but I’ve been feeling a lot better lately though,” responded Mikayla as she rested on the bed. 

“Yes, Lorenzo specializes in treating injuries like yours…” said Carlos as he washed and dried his hands before coming out of the bathroom. 

“Do you take Mr. Saggio for a charlatan?” asked Mikayla in disbelief. 

“More or less,” answered Carlos. 

‘Mr. Saggio would probably cry if he heard it, thought Mikayla exasperatedly. 

Carlos was a gentleman tonight. He only stole a kiss before leaving. 

In fact, right now, they were still at the kissing stage and could rein in their emotions on time and stop before things went further. Fortunately, it was winter and Mikayla wore thick clothes so Carlos‘ touch was not enough to ignite a fire that would have gone out of control otherwise. If the circumstances had been different, they would have made further progress than this. 

The sunshine broke through the clouds and dispersed the night, shining dazzlingly on the bustling city to announce its arrival.
