She had work and private affairs distinguished clearly.
She didn't want to give Jaxon any chance to reverie, which was otherwise not good for either him or her.
However, Jaxon knew clearly that if he spoke frankly, Mikayla would leave immediately instead of continuing dinner with him.
The closer it was to her wedding with Carlos, the sadder and more annoyed Jaxon felt. At the thought of their marriage, Jaxon was frantic.
In particular, Jaxon saw Mikayla's perfect figure. Thus, he couldn't calm down as he imagined that she would lie in another man's arms one day.
Jaxon wanted their wedding to fail, but he didn't have time to deal with it because the company's new project went wrong. He then had the matter investigated. It was by no means accidental. It had been set up in secret and completely untraceable.
Jaxon was not suspicious of anyone but Carlos!
He believed it must have been Carlos who tried to get in his way and kept him busy.
Carlos was just a minor role as someone who spent time in the military base. No matter how rich the Ludwig family was, it was nothing more than that. Jaxon didn't expect that Carlos would hold such a luxurious wedding to marry Mikayla.
People had been speculating about the cost of their wedding. Jaxon had personally managed a wedding before and knew it cost a lot even to hold an ordinary wedding, not to mention a luxurious one.
Jaxon thought, 'Is it possible that, as Dad said, Carlos is not so simple? Anyway, I won't give up!'
"Mikayla, take our time. I'll tell you after dinner." Jaxon looked at Mikayla and her more and more beautiful eyes that attracted him.
Mikayla pursed her lips and watched the waitress serve the dishes one after another.
"It's all your favorite food! When we had dinner together, you were never in a hurry." When Jaxon asked the waitress to serve dishes, he picked out Mikayla's favorite ones and put them in front of her.
"You use the word 'had'!" Mikayla silently watched everything Jaxon did. "Jaxon, if it weren't for business, I wouldn't have come."
Jaxon's heart ached.
His eyes were dim, but the next second he smiled again. "I just want to have dinner with you." He found countless excuses and picked one that would make her come the most likely.
Mikayla said, "Jaxon, forget about our past! We won't get back together."
All the dishes were served, but Mikayla didn't pick up her fork.
"I know I was wrong!" Jaxon didn't know why he couldn't forget it. If he could, he wouldn't think about her all day and night.
It was the first time Mikayla had seen Jaxon so low-profile.
In the past, he was always among the top no matter in terms of family background or schoolwork. He was handsome, elegant, and popular among people. He had everything he could be proud of, but now, he couldn't control himself.
It was the truth.
Mikayla said, "Jaxon, if you mention the past again, I don't think we necessarily have this meal."
Jaxon said, "Forget it! Let's eat!"
While they were having dinner, Jaxon kept finding topics to chat with Mikayla whose reaction was very calm.
Everything Jaxon ate was tasteless at the moment. When they were together in the past, there were always endless topics to talk about during meals. They were in the same school and their friends knew each other, so they could talk a lot about everything.
But now, no matter what he mentioned, she didn't seem to have much interest.
He didn't believe that she had forgotten everything about their relationship over the years.
