Chapter 22
Most shareholders tended to side with Jorge. Under his leadership, Salvatore Group had been generating generous and ever- increasing dividends. But Shawn had allies too. For instance, Graham Greene, one of the shareholders, supported him. Shawn had also called this board meeting.

Without waiting for Shawn’s response, Mikayla continued. “If my proposal goes through, the dividend at the end of will be at least 30 percent higher than last year.”
At the mention of money, some shareholders began calculating the extra profit from a 30 percent increase in dividends. But Shawn didn’t buy it. He snorted, looking arrogant. “And if it doesn’t work out, how many millions of dollars will our company lose?”
Shawn’s words triggered an uproar in the room. Some shareholders, especially those with fewer shares, only came to the company for important meetings. They didn’t care about day-to-day operations as long as they got paid at the end of the year. But the thought of losing money made them panic.
Graham raised his hand and objected, “If that’s the case, as a shareholder, I oppose such a venture!
“So do 11” echoed another minority shareholder.
“As the largest shareholder and the person in charge, I don’t favor anyone. But I hope you’ll listen to Mikayla’s proposal before we take a vote,” said Jorge, maintaining a calm yet authoritative tone.
“We’re a combined 400 years old. Let’s hear Mikayla’s proposal first. The future belongs to the younger generation anyway.” said Gavin Seiler, one of the shareholders, trying to keep the peace.
With everyone quiet, Mikayla began. I’m 80 percent confident in this plan. I’ve reached out to an expert in this field from abroad, and he will arrive in Xosa tomorrow. I’ve already provided Jorge with a list of other personnel. Team B of the marketing department can start work tomorrow. We’ll need an initial investment of 1.7 million dollars and 67 million dollars to go into production.
“This success will bring us both fame and fortune, with profits at least tripling. In the future, Salvatore Group will be more competitive than other listed companies in Xuerons Of course, this is just the positive scenario. In the worst case, our company could lose nearly 134 million dollars. But I believe that won’t happen!”
Mikayla’s calm and confident attitude shocked everyone. They couldn’t believe this poised speaker was a rookie with no work experience.
Mikayla continued, “Of course, this is a big picture. As for the details, I believe you all are aware of the rapidly changing society. The computers we produce now will become obsolete. We can either innovate and move forward or be eliminated by our competitors. I believe none of us will choose the latter!”
Her clear explanation from general ideas to specific details left everyone speechless. Jorge watched her performance and noted the changing expressions of the others, feeling satisfied.
