Mikayla stopped adjusting her father’s collar and frowned when she heard Logan’s voice. “How did I forget this?” she thought, watching the three uninvited “guests–Mildred clung to Logan’s arm. Behind them stood an unhappy Huxley 

“Is the family of three eating out? Mildred seemed to be joking, but everybody could tell the irony in her words. She had particularly stressed on the word “family.” 

“What brings you here, Logan?” Jorge greeted politely, maintaining his hospitality despite the underlying tension in their words. 

Sylvia ordered the servants to serve coffee, while Mikayla texted Carlos, saying they would be late, and took her seat politely. 

“I’m afraid you’ll forget me if I don’t come overt Logan slammed his coffee cup on the table.

“Jorge forced a smile. “You are always my brother.” 

“If you see me as your brother, why is Huxley just ordinary staff while your daughter is the team leader of the marketing department?” Logan had suppressed his anger all the way there. Getting Huxley such a post was akin to slapping him in the face. 

Mildred jumped in. “What Logan said is right, Jorge. Huxley is Logan’s son–your own nephew. How can you be so unfair!” 

These days. Mildred had always boasted that Huxley would play an important role in Salvatore Group, carning envy from her social circle. Her daughter had replaced Mikayla to marry into the wealthy Lindstrom family, which was a prestigious event for her. Although the missing son of the Ludwig family had come back and proposed to Mikayla, Mildred believed it was just a ploy for attention. From her perspective, Mikayla would only fall harder from a greater height. Mildred was itching for the drama if the Ludwig family ditched Mikayla again. However, if the rich ladies found out that Huxley was just a regular employee, Mildred worried they might look down on her. 

“Uncle Logan, I guess that person didn’t tell you the whole story, right?” Mikayla interrupted, ignoring her father’s warning look. “I staked my post as head of the marketing department in front of the board. If I don’t boost our sales by 30% in three months, I’ll never step inside Salvatore Group again! 

Although Logan did not show up at the company, it was natural that he had arranged his confidant inside. But when Mikayla brought it up openly. It made him uncomfortable. Indeed, when that person was reporting, Logan hadn’t paid much attention to the details. He just knew that Mikayla had become a team leader in the marketing department, while his own son was just a sales rep. Hearing Huxley’s complaints after work had only riled him up more 

“Salvatore Group will be Huxley’s someday, so I won’t stand for him working at the bottom, Logan insisted. “Anyway, he has to hold a higher position than Mikayla.” 

In the past, Logan believed Salvatore Group was snatched from him. If he didn’t keep an eye on it, he assumed Jorge might let Mikayla take over the company. 

“Logan, Huxley’s position was decided after much consideration. Trust me,” Jorge explained. 

Of course, Mikayla knew what her father was up to. If Huxley lived off his parents without merit. Salvatore Group would crumble if handed to him.
