Chapter 49 

“Huxley, apologize to Mr. Rogers” Mikayla turned around and sternly commanded Huxley. 

Huxley thought he had misheard and pointed at himself. “You want me to apologize to him? Mikayla, have you lost your mind? On what grounds!” 

Mikayla raised her eyebrows, exuding a domineering presence. “If you don’t apologize, you’ll find out what it feels like to be shown the door. what grounds? Because of your arrogance. The man sitting here is your superior. And who gave you permission to throw company documents on the floor! Every piece of paper at Salvatore Group, even waste paper, could contain company secrets. Can you bear the consequences if anything goes wrong?” 

“You!” Huxley was speechless. He never expected Mikayla to use her power to settle personal scores, forcing him, the future heir, to apologize to a sales department manager in front of everyone. That would ruin his reputation at the Salvatore Group. 

“What? Too scared Mikayla inquired, seizing on his hesitation 

“Mikayla, how dare your Huxley thought to himself, feeling trapped. Not apologizing was no longer an option. “I’ll apologize, but I want to switch departments. I don’t want to work under him anymore,” he said. Internally, he remarked, I’m not a fool Nelson would definitely make my life hard after all this. 

Nelson’s face darkened. Mikayla frowned, a bit concerned. Huxley would be a problem in any department. She had hoped the sales department would humble him, but it clearly wasn’t working 

“Apologize now,” Mikayla commanded, her eyes cold. 

“Sorry!” Huxley said stubbornly to Nelson. 

Next, Mikayla told Quinnlyn to take Huxley to the marketing department first, and she stayed behind to apologize to Nelson before leaving. Back in her office, Mikayla decided to keep Huxley under her direct supervision to prevent any more trouble. She wanted him to meet her and Jorge’s expectations. “From now on, you’ll be part of our team. I hope you work hard, she told Huxley. 

“What?” Huxley was shocked. He’d rather go back to the sales department than work under Mikayla. 

“Not happy! Go out and turn left. See if any department is willing to take you.” Mikayla said coldly, 

A wise man knew when to retreat. “What do I need to do? Huxley conceded. 

“First, go with Ms. Griffiths and get acquainted with our team. Come back in a bit to get your tasks Mikayla instructed. 

After arranging Huxley’s work. Mikayla got back to her own tasks. 

“Ms. Salvatore, Mr. Salvatore wants to see you,” Quinnlyn said softly. 

“Okay. Mikayla finished her work and knocked on the chairman’s office door ten minutes later. “Mr. Salvatore, what can I do for you?” 

“Mikayla, did you transfer Huxley to your department?” Jorge asked, sipping his flat white, indicating he had been waiting.

“Yes,” Mikayla replied, taking a sip of the coffee the secretary brought in. 

“Well done! Mr. Rogers told me that if it weren’t for your wise handling, he was ready to resign. You saved a valuable talent for our company.” Jorge got up and took out an old book from the bookshelf 

“It’s all a coincidence,” Mikayla responded calmly, showing no trace of arrogance. 

“Coincidence or not, you managed it well. Here, let me give you something.” Jorge said, handing her a book. “This is a collection of my notes and insights from over the years. I hope you find it useful.” 

Mikayla felt a wave of emotion as she flipped through the yellowed pages. Jorge’s handwriting was beautiful, and the thick book showed the effort he’d pur into the company. 

“I have no objections to transferring Huxley to your department. It’s the best place for him right now. However, your department is critical to the company, so you must be cautious Huxley is arrogant but straightforward. I’m concerned that he’ll be used by those with ulterior motives, so I’ve never given him any important tasks,” Jorge explained thoughtfully. 

“I understand. Mr. Salvatore. I’ll keep a close eye on him and won’t give him any critical tasks for now,” Mikayla assured him. 

With the company matters discussed. Jorge looked at his daughter with concem. “Mika, don’t push yourself too hard. You also need to relax. Mikayla smiled. “Got it. I’ll go shopping with Julie after work.”

“Buy whatever you like. If you need more money, just let me know,” Jorge said warmly. 

Mikayla felt grateful to be part of such a loving family. After work, she asked 

ed Josiah to drive her to Universal Mall to shop for luxury clothing, bags, and jewelry. Juliet was already waiting at a rooftop fine dining restaurant. Mikayla had received several calls from Juliet urging her to hurry. She invited Josiah to join them for the meal, but he declined. Heading straight to the restaurant, Mikayla spotted Juliet waving at her from the window 

“I’ve already ordered for you. Juliet said, resting her chin on her hand, looking excited. 

Mikayla put her bag down and glanced at Juliet. “You look like someone in love. What’s going on?” 

After Mikayla arrived, the service staff poured the pre–decanted red wine and served the appetizers and steaks. 

“You have no idea how much I’ve been holding this in! If you hadn’t had to meet your in–laws last night and worked all day, I’d have dragged you out long ago!” Juliet burst out, eager to share her news. 

Mikayla was bereft of speech.
