Chapter 70 

The wedding was a week away 

Tonight marked the debut plano recital of Mikayla’s favorite pianist, Kevin Weston, in this country, presenting “Eternal Love” 

Kevin was born in Xosa. He began learning piano at four, performed abmail at 21, and settled overseas after achieving great success. Returning after 25 years, he chose his hometown for his first recital Kevin’s life appeared intricately interwoven with the plno. Mikayla wasn’t surprised that Carlos knew about her so well. 

As Carlos parked the Ford in the parking lot, he grasped Mikayla’s hand and led her toward the concert hall. 

As it was Kevin’s inaugural domestic performance, rumors circulated that he would showcase some of his original compositions, drawing fans from distant places. The concert hall was brimming with attenders, with Carlos and Mikayla securing front–row seats 

There was a piano and a man in his 40s on the stage. 

The opening piece was the bold and colorful Rachmaninoll’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B–flat minor. The performance was melodious and dynamic, radiating youthful enthusiasm and joy. The piece conveyed his delight in returning home after departing in his youth. 

There were two times when Makayla intended to attend Kevin’s concen, but she missed both opportunities. Unexpectedly, her dream came true this time. 

After several piano pieces in a row, everyone wanted more. As the music stopped, applause erupted. 

Kevin rose from the piano and bowed gracefully to express his gratitude. There was a beautiful female host on stage with him, and she said gently, “Do you think Mr. Weston’s performance just now was thrilling?” 

“Yes” everyone replied in unison. 

“Do you want more?” 

“Well, we have Mr. Weston’s permission this time. Next, we will select a lady from the audience who can play the piano to perform a piece with Mr. Weston, the host said. 

As soon as she finished speaking, there was an uproar in the audience. 

Most of the attendees were music enthusiasts, therefore many women who could play the piano raised their hands. 

At that moment, Carlos calmly raised his hand.

All eyes turned toward them. The locals recognized them and began to get excited. The female host was also somewhat surprised. 

Mikayla looked at him with confusion, and he whispered in her car, “I believe in you.” 

For music enthusiasts, being able to play together with their favorite musicians was a dream come true. Mikayla was no exception. However, she hadn’t played the piano for a long time. For nearly three years, Mikayla focused solely on her studies, hoping to ease Jaxon’s career burden one day, thus setting aside her beloved piano. 

Kevin observed the two of them and whispered something to the female host. 

Then, she spoke into the microphone. “Mr. Weston has informed me that he has selected his duet partner” She gestured invitingly. “It is that mister’s female companion.” 

Carlos squeezed Mikayla’s hand under the crowd’s expectant gaze, offering her encouragement and support. 

Mikayla took a deep breath, put on a sweet smile, and stood up. She walked toward the stage. Mikayla donned a black dress paired with a brown trench coat, enhancing her curvaceous figure. Her gently curled hair further enhanced her allure. 

“May I know how to address you?” the host asked.

Holding the microphone, Mikayla’s voice was soft. “Salvatore 

“Hello, Ms. Salvatore! How do you feel about performing with Mr. Weston 

Even amidst the crowd, Carlos‘ deep, obsidian–like eyes exuded an undeniable aura of elegance. 

Mikayla felt much more at ease. She glanced at Kevin, who had been watching her, and bowed deeply in respect. “I am very honored to be chosen by Mr. Weston. I have followed his performances since his debut and I am deeply captivated by his style.” 

“Thank you” Kevin, in his early 40s, was dressed in a black performance attire. He was slender and of medium height, with slightly hollow eyes. 

“Next, please enjoy the duct performance of Piano Concerto in G major by Mr. Weston and Ms. Salvatore 

Piano Concerto in G major was Ravel’s masterpiece. That was one of Mikayla’s favorite pieces, and also the first piece she played. 

Mikayla remembered her first contact with the piano when she was a child. Sylvia, dressed in white, sat in front of the white piano. Her fingers danced and played beautiful music. Bathed in light, Sylvia seemed to be one with the piano.
